Ok here’s me bringing the 2002 3.4L home for my kid. It’s not supercharged. And I didn’t know at the time that the tie rods were on backwards from the the owner did the rack.

I can’t give you a full pull after being in 1997Tacoma’s truck. He’s at 300 HP. I don’t want to be embarrassed. Let’s see if he’s got something. Even his truck sounds like an F-18.

I bought the truck in Sterling, Colorado from private party. The road is two lanes that go the same way on one side.
I went straight to the Toyota dealer that day. What it was doing was making popping noises. As soon as they switched the tie rods, the popping stopped. It runs good. But cosmetically it was pretty rough. Then we had a hail storm and insurance covered a bunch of work. Now it’s pretty nice.

Question for those of you with an ARB locker, when you jack up the rear and spin a tire by hand does it make any noise?

I installed mine a few months ago along with wheel bearings. I used an OEM paper gasket which decided to leak on me so I pulled it and replaced with RTV. After I reinstalled the axles it sounds like a bad bearing. So I pulled out the trusty screwdriver stethoscope and it's coming from the diff. Buuuuttt with everything bolted back on, tires, drive shaft etc and the rear end jacked up and in 1st gear no sound at all. I'm stumped. Only thing I can think of is either it's the locker or pinion bearing. Any thoughts?

tie rods backwards? havnt seen that on a toyota truck yet.. if its like the cars the tie rods hit the wheels and limit how far you can turn

That’s exactly what was going on. Popping/ hitting the wheels and couldn’t turn all the way to the left. But can go 90 LOL

U turn was 3 point turn instead. That was the only thing wrong with it. So I was pretty happy.

I'll admit that I did this. I kept noticing my balance weights were taking a beating and couldn't figure it out since every time I checked my wheels were straight and would spin freely. Had just the right backspacing that it never would hit the wheel.

It’s an honestly mistake. I’ve made them too. Not with tie rods. But I’ve pressed a second gen wheel bearing together and forgot the put the bolts in (derp)

Found a center console from a 00 4Runner. 99-02 4runner consoles are the largest FYI.

My plan is to build it into a subwoofer box like my other custom built console. My old one is just too wide for the new 4Runner seats. I will most likely have to go to a shallow mount sub and fiberglass the inside.

I will also now have 8 cup holders!

The problem with mounting lights onto the top of the grille to level them with your headlights is the plastic valence on top of the bumper. Mine had like half an inch of gap (free air). So when I mounted my lights there I had issues with the mounts crimping down tight and level. i legit had to squeeze washers under one of the sides on a mount to level it lmao. I love them tho there and it works great. Love blinding jackasses who cut me off at night with them. But, they also aren't as overbearing so i can run them around here in Az without issues.
