but stock 5lugs with fresh shocks drive pretty good

 

You've got most of the right parts, just needs some fine tuning to dial it all in. Arguably the hardest part, and why I laugh when people switch from expensive shock brand to another expensive shock brand without revalving.

 

What kinda fine tuning are we talking?

Re valve to the weight of your truck and tune it to ride how you want it

 

ive been happy with the stock valving on my icons. truck drove firm but not harsh. and thats the way i like it.

 

My 5-Lug drove like butter, that being said I've only gotten it to 2nd Gear.

Mine aren't the ones with the fine valve adjustment knob, unless I'm thinking of the wrong thing. My roommate's lowering BRZ coilovers had the valve adjustments.

 

They were okay stock, but not $1200 okay in my opinion. So I had the rebound softened and had the low speed compression softened and the high speed stiffened.

 

I had to tell @se7enine it wouldn't shift into first anymore when he drove all the way from Reno to pick it up, when really I was just an incompetent buffoon who didn't know how to drive a manual.

I just had em rebuilt, I used the ICON rebuild kit.

 

That's neato, so did I, but I had the shim stack altered because the stock valving annoyed me and didn't move with my weight and desired height (more time for the shaft to pickup or lose speed)

 

Take em apart and re shim them

 

When I joined this forum, I didn't know anything about cars at all. In fact, I didn't even know how to drive yet.

 

Suspension feels fine to me, besides the creaking I get at bumps which I've got no clue where it's coming from. I told the performance shop guys to just rebuild them to whatever the stock specs were.

 

i;ll be dicking with valving alot more if i get the second frame all setup with LT like id like.

kinda hopin marlin comes out with the RCLT for 1st gens...
