    The fella that cash rents our acreage has been having one hell of a year, @Tractorman


    First, this spring the weather wasnt cooperating, but he did actually get a lot of corn planted.

    Now, he is having all kinds of shit happen...hahahahaha.

    A bearing seized in the combine and started a fire. Luckily, he caught it really early and extinguished it before it damaged anything. ( My son, Sam was just about to go ride along with him, too.)
    Then, the other day, he was on his way to pick Sam up again to ride along and the Header broke. Down for a week, apparently.

    Finally, last night Sam got to ride along.

    We're supposed to be a 1st world country. :facepalm:

    You have a whole different set of factors in play out there.
    We just don't get fires like that in the east. The forests never get that dry.
    (Except for the occasional somewhat serious fire in southeast pine woods).

    So mind you, we here in the east need to temper our criticism.

    Nevertheless, this seems to me a gigantic administrative/bureaucratic/political fuck-up.
