Are you using the Milwaukee saw in the picture? I just checked the specs on that saw and it looks like the chain is special because of the gauge 0.043, and it looks like baileys doesn’t stock that gauge for ripping chain! So you might be able to get ur chain reground to 10 degrees, like most ripping chains

If that is American elm, they also call it gray elm.......it has a grayish tint to it. I have seen an end table made from it that was beautiful and very unique.

First real try a doing box joints for a project and they came out decent. Still have a few things to learn and remember when cutting them.

Look at the bark in cross section......if it looks like chocolate cake with light icing in between the cake layers (light/dark/light/dark etc.) it is American elm. If the bark is a uniform reddish/brown color it is slippery elm (or rock elm or piss elm or whatever common name is used in your area). That is usually the easiest identifier of species.

A king size platform bed for my daughter and hubby. She wanted floating tables so the headboard is 9'6". Not happy with the stain on the right side of HB so will be sanding it down and redoing. It is modular to make moving simple.
