I understand your statement but that defeats the whole purpose of consumerism. How did you get those parts for your truck? By paying companies for those said products. So they made money. So now that you have your stuff no other company is allowed to make money from a hobby some people love?

It's the same as buying an iphone, some people love them by you need to spend money to get them. And the company selling it to you is making profits from it. No one just does stuff because they know people love it and have no intent to make any money from it.

You are missing the point. This conversation has gotten beyond stupid.

 

I dont see how any of that is relevant. Someone that's the first to do it doesnt mean that other companies cant build on that. And make a profit in doing so

 

1. I delt with companies direct that made the product
2. The community is saturated with sticky fingers trying to make a buck, don't need corporate in there too. Pep Boys will pocket more than they will even care to give back.

 

I just like to build my truck, run over stuff, and camp. I don’t care what anyone else does, and I hate all these labels.

 

That's not true Jay. I plan to run low margins on the product. We recently donated a set of BFG tires to a meet to benefit Austism Speaks. I made nothing from that. We do benefits all of the time. We also run the place like a small business which is what allows me to do these things. We take good care of our people in our region. We aren't the corporate conglomerate you may think we are. It's something to have fun with..nothing more.

 

I do. Ask anyone. The $ is nice but I do it because I love it.

chux idk man you kinda confusing here, you have a great and an ever evolving build page with some amazing trip reports. you clearly use your truck more than most people on this forum. expecting everyone to be on your level is not realistic and looking down on others who do not go on expansive trips such as yourself just makes you sound like a dick... we only know one another from the forum so I wouldn't dare go as far as to talk down on you, in fact I have used your build page and trip reports as something to look up to for real life experiences... cut the guy some slack this isn't the first time OP gets shammed by you. Of course theres people out there that love what they do. But my point is, no one does it for free. Even if you're not making a huge profit or no profit at all. You'd still be selling something at cost so that you aren't paying out of pocket.
