I try not to have expectations of others

i control what's under my control, and that's me. I can't control anything else.

if someone else doesn't obey traffic laws, I can't help that. so, I'll just do what I can to mitigate my risk to their behavior

Why is it that so many people now-a-days don't know that flashing high beams at someone means a variety of things depending upon the situation.

Flashing oncoming cars that have their high beams on - means you are blinding oncoming traffic so turn them off
Flashing oncoming cars that have their low beams on - means there is a speed trap ahead so slow down
Flashing oncoming cars that do not have their lights on or only DTRL - means turn on your lights so others can see you in the dark
Flashing cars in front of you on the highway - means move over, you are in the fast lane and going too slow
Flashing your lights at a 4 way stop - means I will wait, you go first

Seems most people either don't know these unwritten rules or don't care or are just so oblivious that they don't even notice they are being flashed.

Why are so many people driving around with high beams on all the time anyway? Didn't used to be like that. Also so many damned LED headlights with blinding white light or headlights improperly aimed. Not just bad for other drivers, it's a strain on the driver of the cars' eyes with ultra white light headlights. Slightly yellow (like the old halogens) are much easier on your eyes and light the road more than enough to see where you are going (unless of course you are being blinded by some moron who can't see unless the road ahead is like daylight).

Pulling out of a lot, into moving traffic and forcing people to stop, then stopping in a non-turn lane in the median to make a uturn, tail end hanging out in traffic.

I need a louder, angrier, horn. My stock roadrunner horn just isn't cutting it.

That pantload who insists on making a left turn in front of you, across two lanes of traffic, on a day when it’s not just raining but there’s a monsoon!

If people want to drive like jackasses that’s on them; If people hit my truck as a result of driving like a jackass, then they’ll be on the receiving end an Oscar-worthy Incredible Hulk impression. Last person who hit my truck not only got a thorough cussing-out by yours truly and a totaled Mercedes, but ended up getting hauled away for DUI...

    Karma’s a bitch!

    Brake-checkers...

I have been guilty of brake-checking a few times in my life, but I stopped when I found out the hard way on two separate occasions that people do not take kindly to being brake-checked.

First time was probably in June 2017; I was in the left lane because the the right lane was congested, and this meathead in a 2011ish Altima roars up behind me and rides my ass...

I had seen him in my rear-view mirror tailgating people, and weaving in and out of traffic, and when he started tailgating me I got mad. I braked abruptly, and he took it way too personally. At the next red light, he pulled alongside me on the right and starting yelling at me "You got a problem, bro?!?! You got a problem?" It was a 20-something guy with a beard. My window was up. I barely looked to my right, then cranked up Tom Petty and looked straight ahead until the light turned green. At this point, the "Altima Bro" floors it and roars ahead, proceeding to tailgate people and cut them off until he made a right turn.

The second time was in 2018 I believe, on the very same stretch of road where I encountered "Altima Bro", I encountered some pantload in a Subaru WRX STI. He was driving in the same aggressive manner as the guy in the Altima, weaving and tailgating. He roared up behind me and started tailgating, and what I did was more of slowing WAYYY down than brake-checking. As soon as traffic cleared up, he roared around me on the right and flipped me off as he sped away.

I've encountered a lot of douchebag drivers in roughly 2002-2012 Altimas over the years; I don't know why this is!

    I hate cyclists!

One time I was in a long line of cars at a stop sign, waiting to go left, right, or straight...

I looked in the mirror and saw this guy on a bicycle riding up on my right. I don’t know what the law is in other states, but in Pennsylvania a bicyclist falls under the same laws as a motor vehicle. Bicycles and cars share the road in PA, but bikes are subject to the same traffic laws.

I pulled to the right to keep the cyclist from passing, because I knew he was attempting to jump the cue and cheat traffic. Like I said, a bicycle is subject to the same laws as a car and for the sake of argument is pretty much a Harley or Vespa without an engine; I wouldn’t let a motorcycle or scooter pass me just because it’s smaller. Unfortunately, I didn’t pull over far enough to the right and Bicyclus Moronicus was able to get past my truck. He cussed at me through my open passenger window and did exactly what I’d been trying to keep him from doing.

I did what I did largely because I don’t like people cutting in front of my vehicle, but also to keep Bicyclus Moronicus from getting run over.

I will also pull as far forward as I possibly can to keep jaywalking pedestrians from cutting between my truck and the vehicle in front of me when I’m stuck in traffic.

    Cyclists are typically douchebags...

And then South Carolina is even worse because you can ride a moped under 50cc on a public road without a driver’s license. This makes them popular with people who have lost their licenses due to DUI. No liability insurance required either, so if one of these twatwaffles hits your vehicle and you don’t have adequate insurance, you’ll have to sue the person on the moped.

HEY OREGON DRIVERS get out of your bubble and pay the F attention when you're driving. I have many complaints about shitty Oregon drivers but I'll keep it to the two that need to become law.

#1 When merging onto the freeway you should be up to speed with the flow of traffic by the time you merge. Nothing pisses off truckers and the people behind you more than your dumb ass getting on the freeway like your driving Miss Daisy. PAY ATTENTION!

#2 If you're in the left lane (passing lane) on the freeway and I or someone else is riding your ass because your doing 55 in a 65, get the fuck over. Especially when there is NO ONE IN FRONT OF YOU. PAY ATTENTION!

These two driver blunders should be common courtesy not to mention common sense but apparently neither of these two things are very common.

Ohhhh... here's another one I just thought of that's at the top of my list. When your lined up to turn left at an intersection and the light turns green how 'bout you GOOOOOO! There's no excuse for 5 car lengths between vehicles. You're not the only one trying to get through the light you worthless jackass.

People who drive with their head up their ass and then get annoyed when you beep at them...

I was driving one of the company vans back to work from the car wash and there was road work at an intersection. The straight/right lanes were blocked, forcing people to use the left lanes.

This older woman in a blue Ford Focus was ambling along smoking a cigarette, and was positioned in such a way that I couldn’t get to either of the left turn lanes. I finally beeped at her in frustration, and she gave me a dirty look but put on her right signal and finally got in position to turn right.

Idiots who don't understand the meaning of YIELD, as example drivers exiting the freeway on the cloverleaf not yielding to drivers on the road they are entering. Or drivers entering the freeway and don't yield to drivers already in the right hand lane. I will try to get over if I see traffic entering but sometimes it is not possible.

Last time I was on the highway near a merging entrance ramp there was a complete idiot. I usually move to the fast lane to make it easier for people to enter but was unable due to traffic, this guy in a truck started erratically accelerating and slamming on the brakes and finally completely locked them up at the end of the ramp.
