I'm using POR15 metal prep on bare steel. Do I then just go primer and paint or is there another POR15 product I should use in there somewhere?

You can, I'd wipe it down with an acetone covered rag before putting a diff brand primer and paint.
Which primer and paint did you go with?

You could (another Por 15 product after the etch), Por-15, but then also get the Por15 topcoat that is UV protected, otherwise Por15 turns white when exposed to the sun.

I did the metal prep, then por15. If your not using their paint just use what ever brand of paint.

I'm using WURTH stuff we have at work. It's high solids primer and paint.
Is the topcoat like a primer?

High solids paints are generally pretty good, I googled Wurth and didn't see a Paint/Primer or does it say on the cans you don't need primer?

One thing that always helps with rust protection is using a Zinc primer.
Wurth has a weld through high zinc primer, maybe they have a can or two of that at work.

I used a Zinc Chromate primer, available at most auto shop supply places, I think I've even seen it at Canadian tire.

The paint and primer are two separate products. The sales rep comes in once in a while so maybe I'll see if i can get some of the zinc primer off him.
