I spent all day welding again. I am tired, but it was fun to wield the huge 350a MIG welder for a bit, and the smaller 175a too.

I spent all day reassembling our Kalamazoo Band Saw. Stupid thing had been cutting at an angle for months. The pivot shaft had never been greased and wallowed out the hole in the cast iron base that it lives in. That was a job. Had to tear the saw down so we could get the base out and send it off to be bored. Today was reassembly day.

We have a Kalamazoo band saw too, and one of their autosaws. I like them more than our Delta bandsaws. The FMB saw is my absolute favorite tho. Thing is whenever our equipment (that isn't the internal workings of a CNC) breaks.... We also ha e to be the ones to fix it haha, such is the fate of a machine shop.

Thanks. The hinges have to fit a certain fixture the customer has so the weld on the back cannot stand proud, so I run the one in the top pic first to get the piece hot and run the one on the back fast so it still penetrates but doesn't get tall.

I clean my workspace every morning. Also I'm not running a very splattery wire or metal combo.

Reassembly is going better than disasembly. Im not so worried about getting tetanus from working on a saw that is cleaned of the millions of rusty metal shavings haha. We had to get some line workers off the floor of the plant to help take swings at the old shaft to drive it out. Some idiot painted the shaft which made it a pita to drive out. Looks cleaner now too that I painted some of the saw.

That blows man, im sorry that it came to that. Sometimes it's the simplest shit that can hold us up. Hopefully the dealer owns that if they did it last.

Hammed a screwdriver through it and it just tore through the filter walls instead of turning it

I figured you would have one. Every machine shop in the good 'ol U-S of A seems to. Ours was bought used at auction so it had a rough life. I painted the parts the matter, redid the wiring, threw in a new E-Stop button, refilled the hydraulic cylinder and its running like a new saw.
