Sometimes there's nothing that can be done.
Not realistically.

When I was small, my Father accepted a German Shepherd as a favor to someone.
I suppose in the hope it could be re-socialized as a farm dog.
No, it was hopeless.
You can't have an undisciplined, un-trainable dog running loose on a farm harassing the dairy cows...killing chickens.
Mind you, we had another dog (a Boxer) who was perfectly trustworthy.

So my Father put him down, personally.
He told me the dog can't run loose and being chained up is no life at all for a dog.
Back in those days it didn't occur to farm folk to call a veterinarian to do it.
And that's probably still true.
You do what you must and don't put it off on someone else.
