I don't really remember asking for a 3 AM wake up call.

He’s a F1 Savannah - father is an African Serval.

Aka the absolute WORST laundry buddy.

 

BUT his obsession with laundry started when I brought him home. Thought I lost my pride and joy on Day 5 of ownership, turns out he decided the he’d hide from Dad in the dryer..

Scared me shitless.

 

Yeah, apparently some cats are attracted to certain soaps. My old cat of 23 years, would follow me around incessantly after I got out of the shower using Irish Spring. If I used Dial, she could care less, lol.

 

“Hey Dad, bet ya I can pick this tennis ball up with my meowth...”


Dad: “I have a dog.”


Ps - his bedroom has a better view than mine does... the things I do for this spoiled brat lol.

 

LOL! My current cat is obsessed with aluminium "balls". I throw them, she fetches & brings them back, drops it & looks at me like "do it again".

 

Scented kitchen garbage bags, our oldest cat loves to rub on them while I am getting ready to take them out. I don't like the way they smell, bet she sure does. And she smells like a garbage bag the rest of the day.

Yes, he doesn’t live in CA and lives in a state where they are legal.

And no, his F2 isn’t scared - he’s older and equally (if not more) playful/tough than the Serval. Oddly enough, F1 & F2 gens are often a lot more rough and difficult to handle than Servals themselves are. It doesn’t appear that way from a size point of view, but it’s a common trait and often misunderstood.

Like I mentioned previously, had I lived in NV or another state that allows Serval ownership, I would have opted for a Serval over an F1 for a few reasons. Luckily Jaxson is a good boy 99% of the time.

He played all morning and got his energy out for a bit. This is what a mentally and physically stimulated Savannah looks like.

At the end of the day, it’s all about the owner. What can YOU do to keep them occupied, happy, and stimulated.

Does Jaxson allow you to trim his claws?

 

He will, but I usually don’t. His scratch pad and walks outside keep them filed down and if they look bad during vet visits I’ll help the vet do it. They’re still sharp (as you can see), but it’s honestly a non-issue. He just has big claws to pair with those beefy paws lol
