Does anybody run an E rated KO2

You should think hard about if you really need E rated tires. I ran 2 sets on my 2007 JK for over 100,000 miles. The ride IS rougher somewhat. And the heavier tires add extra rolling mass to the vehicle. And they WILL cause premature wear to your front suspension and steering components. I do like the extra security for off-road. But is it worth it? Just my $0.02

 

I drive an OR and my current E load Coopers definitely take a lot of comfort away from the feel of the truck.

Highway driving is ok. City driving blows, you can feel every imperfection in the road. Speed bumps, even the smallest, are a nightmare. Definitely that "wooden roller coaster feel". I will be going back to C load without a doubt. There's a reason they made C-load 285/70/17's!

 

Have LT265/75R16 BFG KO2 LRE and I think they ride fine. Not too stiff on road and are fairly quiet.

Traction yes, but able to withstand being aired down and crawling over sharp rocks or taking a sharp rock with the weight of the truck against it to the sidewall is where an E rated tire will be the difference in going forward or stopping to change out a flat. I've seen many P and even C rated flats on the trail but only a couple E rated.

But again it really depends on how you intend to use them. E rated is way overkill and unnecessary if you don't intend to use them on rough terrain.

 

Agree. Most people running e don't need to. I didn't want to have all that extra mass to move.

 

275/70 R17 KO2 E have been going good for me. I drive 24 miles to work and back on the freeway at 34psi and usually air down to 18psi twice a month to do some wheelin’. No reason for me not to get them again, I’ve rode the side walls on rocks and I can barely catch a fingernail in the gouges on the sidewalls. Over 40k miles and still going strong.

 

I ran these on my 4Runner - the ride didn't bother me a bit. Had Billy's @ 1.75 which stiffened things up but the tires were great.

That said, I decided to go with the 265/75/16 Duratrac for the Taco, partially due to the weight savings and C load range. The Duratracs have been the best winter tire I've ever owned.

 

I ran E load KO2'S on my 2016 and was not impressed with them at all. They were very harsh riding (32-30 psi).
I now have Dick Cepek EXP E load and love how they ride and perform.

 

I run an E rated Cooper ST Maxx. The ride was very rough at first but after a full day on the trails at 15psi things softened up a bit. I run them at 34-38psi on the street.

There were 2 deciding factors for me:

1. Pizza Cutter 33s only seem to come in an E rated.
2. I do a decent amount of off roading on pretty sharp/jagged rocks so the 10 ply was very important to me.

 

255/85/16 on your stock wheels? How’s the ride with the stock Pro foxes? I’m picking up a Pro soon and I have some 255/80/17 st maxx on scs wheels to put on.

 

Yep, road force balanced on the stock pro wheels. Ride with the fox shocks is great. I do think that it would be a rougher ride on the OR or Sport suspension.

Running the same in 265/75/16. 4wparts still has a discount going on them. I got 5 shipped for $630 to my door

 

I have them on my OffRoad but I also have Fox 2.5s with resis and 2.0 in the rear. I think it rises great but some passengers think it’s rough. I’m hoping the stock Fox stuff rides similar.

 

I run E rated K02’s. They’re not rough at all in my opinion. I do a lot of off-roading so I like a beefier tire.

 

I love the ride! I had a 2017 OR before and even on the street on stock tires I think the pro suspension rides better.

 

I had 5 flats on my stock Wranglers before switching to E rated KO2s. 4 out of 5 were side punctures from West Texas rocks. I thought the ride change was heavy and grippy but not harsh as all. I vary the pressure according to the road and have not had a single flat since. I'd say E rated is pretty bulletproof and worth it for gnarly rock crawling and puncture prevention, while C rated is for everyone and everything else.

 

I'll also say that the stock Wranglers felt like a sad joke in comparisons to the KO2s. I did a lot in those tires and they were fine. But real tires feel *so* much better...

Taco + OVTune + good tires = one extremely capable, versatile, agile and right sized Offroad vehicle.

 

E tires in 30.6" size here. 265/65-17 Cooper AT3 LT. these are hard AF, much harder and harsher than 265/70 even. i run under 30psi and they are like driving on hockey pucks. i love them so. makes my truck dance.

 

I am ahead of you in the future. Started with the LT265/75R16 E KO2s. Put 45k on them, sold them with 5/32" left. Went to a 17" FJ Cruiser Trail Edition wheel and LT255/75R17 Load Range C KO2. Much softer @ 35-40psi on pavement and lighter even though it's a larger diameter tire.
