    I’ll probably just end painting them before mounting

    So I just looked into this a little. That's crazy man and I'd be livid just like the residents there. These fires are starting from power lines that are breaking??? Wtf is this 1970s power line technology?
    I truly didn't know that wind/breeze snapped power lines is what was causing these fires. Why is it happening there and not other states that have more wind gusts? Are the power lines really that poor of shape/quality?

    Yup it's a shitshow really...the power equipment has been outdated and in many cases in disrepair for a long time and the power company (PG&E in Northern CA) hasn't done anything about it. Well, until after the huge fires last year that killed a lot of people. Now their solution is to shut off the power during risky weather and spend the next decade rebuilding/upgrading their equipment.

    Edison is the power company in SoCal and while we have had some big fires of our own, I don't think many have been attributed to faulty power equipment. Usually its some arsonist freak or dumbass tossing a lit cigarette. But Edison is worried now too now that PG&E has taken so much heat up north, and they are shutting off power down here too in order to prevent fires. Not in same magnitude that it's happening up north though.

    Just a good observation of corporate greed and valuing money over common sense and safety. These companies have gotten so big that they can't fail and they know we can't go without them.

    We had decent luck using the Duplicolor system. The trick to having the finish harden like a powder coat job is to heat the wheel after painting it completely cures before mounting a tire or driving on a road where you can pick up gravel chips. We learned this by noticing the front wheels were chip resistant on a gravel road but not the rear. The heat from the front disc brakes allowed the front wheels to cure and harden better than the rear. The rear eventually cured but not after some chips.

    Then we painted another set of wheels with the same paint and baked each wheel in the oven to cure. Those wheels turned out to be the best of all. Here's an article about baking wheels to speed the curing process.

    @cruiserguy

    Here's one of those suspension "black art" tricks that I learned from guys who are into autox and need their suspensions to be tight and completely predictable after a refresh.

    Pick out a grease that you like that is compatible with other greases, then inject it inside the boot from the top using a grease needle. You don't want to damage the boot or compromise the seal by changing and adding more grease to a joint. Then once you start getting the new grease inside the boot, start working in the new grease around the ball and socket until it rotates and moves around until it feels smooth like butter. You can feel the amount grease is in the boot for when it is compressed after installation to avoid having to much. Its a new joint with no wear on the ball or socket. This just helps make sure grease is evenly applied and the suspension ball joints move with the least amount of resistance. After I started doing this, new suspensions feel quick and responsive immediately after installation while having a new and tight ball and socket. I think this helps ball joints last since it provides more protection than just installing the replacement joint without any conditioning.

    I have read or heard, no actual experience, that the issue with that greasing method is that the new grease can't get to where it is functional and helping lubricate where needed. This prolly depends on the component and setup/design as well. I've heard that this is why Toyota did not use greasable ball joints on these Tacomas. But it's just hearsay, somewhat logical hearsay but I really don't know. I would imagine on TREs that that method should absolutely work as it's not a load bearing joint.

    I guess so...was a star rated facility and they told me they sent the into off to the DMV. Better have been lol. I was due for the star test this year.

    I could pay off smog testers with cash for the rest of my life if I needed to for 1/4 what a Tesla would cost me
