    Hey everyone,

I have a 2010 access cab TRD magnetic grey Tacoma (Canada) and I have been getting the urge to make the truck "my own". I have a grill craft grill on its way (upper and lower) and now I am tossing up ideas about headlights. I have not purchased anything yet, but here are my ideas and reasoning...
    Buying http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/05-0...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

Its a blacked out stock headlight for $102. I would like to get that and then add either 6000K or 8000K HID lights to it and also the fog lights. I sent slimcubby a message but have not heard back from him yet...I am unsure of what K i would want the fog lights to be. What would look the best? Aggressive, appealing etc. I dont want to do the blacked out headlights myself, so this gives me a spare set and the ability to not have to rush to do things. Are the HID's the way to go? I don't think I want to do the projector route...
Also, I am considering putting in the black magic Hella's behind the Grill craft. Is that overkill if I put in HID's?
What are your thoughts and opinions. Thanks!

I love it! The slight blue looks absolutely amazing outlaw7. Do you mind if I ask where you got your lights? Or where should I get mine?
And sorry, noob question, what do you mean by you have ddm tho?
Also, is that a good route then? those headlights off ebay paired with 6k HID and fogs?

Sorry, one more question, do I go with 35w or 55w? is 55w too hot for the housing or is it illegal?

4300K will give the best output and performance in rainy weather...it may not "look" as "cool" as blue 8000K, but your upgrading your headlights to be able to see better right?! HIDs in the fogs are a waste...they just scatter light everywhere. i personally would suggest you check out the new D2S PNP morimoto projectors from theretrofitsource.com, these will give you MUCH better lighting over those stupid PNP kits in our halogen reflector housing. plus, you can use quality phillips 85122 bulbs!

EDIT: go w/ OEM ballasts at 35W, you really dont need anything else for the street.

but then again, your going cheap egay lights that will most likely leak and cheap aftermarkte PNPs at 6-8000K, so everything i just said may never make sense to you!!

Just so you know, the fog lights with HID PNP kits have no glare protection whatsoever and will blind the crap out of oncoming drivers. There is at least some glare protection with a headlight kit (if it is a good kit with a glare shield), and the small shield built into the headlight. Look at outlaw's pic above, as it is a good example. I tried a PNP kit in my headlight, and it didn't seem to be too bad, though.

    Hey Yosh,
Thanks for the input. The reason for this thread is for me to learn and understand what the best route is to take. I do not want to buy the HID kits on ebay, I want to get a quality kit, that is why I messaged slimcubby. Are his kits good quality?
What are the advantages of projector over HID? To be perfectly honest, the headlights in my truck now are bright enough, I just want it to be a bit brighter with a nicer color.

    Hey Murdered Out Taco,
That looks awesome! How/why did you decide to do the fogs at 3K vs the same as your headlights? Also, what made you choose 10K over say 8 or 6? Sorry for all the questions, just having a hard time deciding! Also are those black headlights legal in Canada? I do like them a lot more. And any problems with leaking?

    Hey Iroc,

So will I not be able to drive with my fogs on? I drive with my fogs on all the time now, thats why i was kind of leaning towards going both 6K (headlights and fogs) or 8K

dude if you point fogs down a tad bit they dont do that!

I like the look of the yellow lights and the blue headlights! As far as the light being legal I think so as long as you have a amber led bulb in the light that is what i did so when the light is off they are clear at night they are amber!:D You can drive with fog on

I do like your headlights more than the ones I saw on ebay for sure.
So with those headlights you linked to on ebay, do I need to buy a LED for the spot closest to the grill? And what about closest to the outside?
Just trying to put together a list of what I need to buy.
    Headlights you linked to
HID bulbs and ballast system bi-xenon H4 for headlights and separate system for H10 for fogs
Will I need anything else? I will probably go both 6 or 8 as of now...but the 3 and 10 do look amazing too.
Are there adjustment screws for the fogs like there are for the headlights?

Thanks again to all of you helping!

the trun signals you can use a regular amber bulb the parking kights i used a amber led they have them at auto zone 12 bucks! For the fog lights it kinda the same there is a white adjuster on the back that you can turn with a screw driver! Good luck go with what you want not what people tell you!:D

Now to find a good place to get quality bulbs and ballasts... Can't wait to get going on this project! Also...the link you sent me for the ebay headlights, will they fit a 2010? And is there a light in the headlight already so I don't have to get the LED right away?

Haha I would love it if you installed them! Along with my grillcraft that is on its way! It's just a pain in the ass with shipping to Canada and dealing with customs and getting screwed with duty and taxes and random custom charges. That $10 LED would probably end up being at least 40 haha.
Im on that website pricing out the DDM HID kit slim ballast and there is an option for HID harness (dual in, dual out) What is that? Do I need that?

Also, thanks a lot for helping out man!

Are these items not available in Canada for shipping locally?

Im sure I could find those LED's somewhere in Canada that would be cheaper, but the headlights probably not. And for example, its 45 to ship in the states and 103 to canada for those headlights. It sucks, but whatever. HID kits I haven't found anything to compare even close to DDM. I asked a few places, cheapest I could get a H4 set was $300-$350
