Anything welding

For now just enough to do a couple tube bumpers for my truck and maybe some more exhaust work. It would be a dream to do fab stuff like the shops out west that do custom builds and make parts and stuff on the side so i'll probably be chomping at the bit to do stuff like that but not much right now. Thats what i did on my exhaust was cut everything with a grinder. But i want more even cuts so i can butt stuff together real nice and not worry about a root gap as much

 

That's what i was thinking of doing originally. Funny i just looked at that saw on that exact site! lol Probably gonna go with that or the rage2 not sure yet

Is there any reason you don't want a band saw? I've cut countless pieces of pipe with my Wen bandsaw and it is still going strong.

 

Packaging mostly, I would love a band saw but i have very limited garage space and would be moving it outside to cut anyway. All the small band saws that are comparable in size to chop saws i like the chop saw options better, like easy switching between ss and carbon blades. Got lotsa experience with a miter saw already as well

 

look into the minimum cud depths on the saws. The 7.25” blade doesn’t have a very big max cut depth, which was my reasoning for going with the rage 2 over the rage 4 (Which is similar to the evolution evosaw you are looking at).

What is really bent the shafts or the pulleys

Really hard to bend a pulley unless it was pre assembly without bending the shaft .

Might just be poor assembly

Pulleys can be a cheap and easy fix if that is the problem

 

Wasn't someone looking at chopsaws for metal recently?

No issues so far here, I've cut plenty of metal with it.

If things were bent that bad how many blades have you snapped?

Do you have a Italian Speedometer( dial Indicator )or access to one??

Take some pictures of this beast it might be something simple

 

Don,t need a dial indicator to see that those shives are not true. That is unacceptable.

I just acquired this Milwaukee metal saw to cut steel sheets. We ran it on some 3/8" steel sheet at work and it cuts pretty darn nice.

 

We have one of those at work. I’ve cut 1/2” steel with it and 1” aluminum. They are awesome saws.

 

That is good to know! It took me too long to cut my skid plate out of 3/16 sheet last time using an angle grinder. I ain't doing that again.

 

Haven't seen much new here in a while. I was moved to welding for work. This is what I got up to today...

 

Being this is made in China is there a key that holds the pulley in Alignment then a set screw?

Quite possible a cheap cast pulley bored just off enough .

Installed incorrect on the shaft if there is no key way

the shaft is bent .

This is what you need to figure out so you can fix the problem

 

Had to do some welding at a friend's barn. I have an inverter multiprocess welder. I didn't feel like dragging the gas over there, so I picked up some flux core wire and swapped it out.
Got the welding done. Realized as I was putting things away, that I never switched the electrodes.
The way my welder works is there's a wire coming out the front that goes to either the positive or negative and you put the grounding clamp in the other.
My question is, given that the welding worked fine, what's the importance of polarity when going from solid wire gas welding to flux core and no gas?

 

You use the same polarity for hard wire as for flux core. 75/25 is for flux core too. Seen it, but Never used gas less wire before.
