One down, 4 tags left. No, I didn’t shoot this one, but I did push it out for my friend who did. 5 miles with nearly 120lbs on my back was rough..

While I have all the NC guys in one place, can someone clarify what I can tow without a WEIGHTED plate?? I got just the regular "First in Flight" tag, but can I legally tow a small utility trailer?

you can “buy” weight on that tag, but you could still be stopped.

Technically the truck weighs right at 4K already, especially with driver and passenger. So you’re “over weight” on the basic tag from the get go.

The likelihood of being stopped hinges more on how you may appear as a business or commercial use.

Hauling your Yardman riding mower on a 5x8 to moms house isn’t likely to get you stopped or looked at, add a trimmer rack and a few other things and now you look like a business and will likely get stopped by Joe Hard-on cop.
Haul your Motocross bikes with signage and all the cool stickers on a trailer and now you’re a competitive operator and could be construed as a business (this is how the off-road guys get nailed)

I’ve got an 8k weighted tag, I get questioned by the unknowing all the time, never been stopped for hauling anything.

pulling a camper/RV is exempt from weighted classification

Exactly what Kevin said and to add.

I maxed out the std tag I believe its 9500 lbs or something like that. Weighted tags if you go above the std you have to pay to play. My 20k weighted tags on my old F350 were over $300.

You can tow with the regular tag and will more than likely never be pulled of you are towing for recreation purposes especially with a little mid sized truck. It's the guys hauling big 5th wheels and such like that they target, or race car haulers, or landscapers, etc.

Nice! I was actually considering finding a pull behind but I need to get a truck first. Being in an RV in Colorado was a game changer over sleeping in a tent

Hell yea. I’m slowly working on phasing out my ultralight gear for car camping gear

I would be so ashamed to hear that from my current self, 8 years ago when I was guiding
