Me too. Especially on a consumable that a lot of people need just to get to work.

Bro tip: no shit and I've been feet from the beach for the past ten years.

This has been a recent development thanks to todd spitzer's brilliant plan to clear out the santa ana river bed by giving out hotel vouchers to them and basically seeding the county with trash that only road bikers would pedal by.

There were bums in redondo, hermosa and manhattan beach and santa monica when I lived there a years ago, just not as insane as it is now.
Maybe you're luckier on rodeo drive.

There are more cars in California than any other state and we have the worst infrastructure and public transportation options. The demand for gas is very high, and there high taxes, and there factors restricting supply (emissions regulations, specific refineries for CA).

I don’t think it’s hard to understand why gas is higher here. it’s not as simple as taking the national average adding taxes to it. That’s not how taxes affect a market price anyways

I’m not sure why you are quoting me. These are the same points I made above and earlier, and the sources I linked to account for the specialized refineries and profit for the company and marketing and all that you mention. Yes, like I said, much of the high cost is explainable, but some of the remainder appears to be harder to account for when people that study this issue in depth look at it. Check out the sources if you are interested in an investigative arc that counters your own take on the issue. The guy with the Wordpress site is a trained researcher (Berkeley, MIT) and he has graphs and shit.

Exactly. Even Newsome thinks prices are too high and wants an investigation into it. That should tell you something...

Since moving out of California 15 years ago, I've saved about 11,000 hours of commute time and $100,000 in fuel...just sayin'.
