I just got a letter talking about frame replacement if the vehicle meets the standards. I thought this was over back in the early 2000’s. I can’t believe they are still having the issue.

As disappointed as I am that they are still having the same (very fixable) issue, I feel much better in knowing that they'll at least cover it.

I agree it is very surprising that it is still going on. I heard the frames were supplied by Dana. I bought an 05 from a Dealer with zero miles on a new replaced frame. Everything under that truck was new except the exhausts it’s a great deal to have it replaced but not a good mark for Toyota’s reputation.

There's a few threads with this exact topic going on.

Hoping they’ll fix it. (Yes I’m a little salty because I’m in limbo)

Just got my letter today. I have used a self healing spray from Eastwood underneath my truck since I owned it. Haven't noticed any issues, was just under touching up the spray a couple weeks ago and looked good. Funny thing was just called a place today about spraying both my wife's car & my taco, jams & all. May wait on my taco now

Toyota can build them to run forever or until the frame rots out which ever comes first.
For $40000+ you get a Tacoma and something to always worry about unless you live somewhere they dont salt the roads.
I cant believe people are still paying that kind of money for any new car or truck and right here is the reason why.

Got letter for my 2015. I definitely have above average surface rust on my frame but no rot yet. Was going to spray the rusty spots with a “reformer” then have the whole thing professionally treated with “NH Oil Coating” that people seem to swear by. I suppose i should put the brakes on that seeing’s how it was going to cost me a few hundred to have done.

Anyone know what the process/treatment the factory is going to offer as a preventative?

Before I jumped up to Kings, I did this. It last for years and your truck frame will not rust away. I have been using this stuff for over 30 years. Good luck with your truck.

“Application of CRC is required to maintain the frame replacement coverage mentioned above.”

Good stuff and nice looking truck. But what about coating the inside of the frame? Up here in the Rust Belt, that's where everything really gets going.
