Decked System for Tacoma Worth it?

If it was 750 i would have 1 also.
I think it being plastic is a plus considering weather proof vs wood.
Other brands have a more custom fit but cost 2-5 times the price.

 

Even at $800 it’d be worth scooping up. $1150 is a bit hard to swallow. But I get it, R&D and shipping aren’t cheap, plus they gotta make their money too (otherwise what’s the point of being in business)

As a contractor who uses their Tacoma for work, I should be all over this. I can deal with the weight, but the cost seems high, and the unit looks to be very inefficient in its use of space. I currently use 4 27G totes and just pull out which tote I need.

 

1300 is bit for sure. seems everything now days is over inflated than its worth.

 

Kinda on topic, but for you guys with the decked or similar, hw do you use your 120 plug in the bed?

 

I removed the outlet cover and built a extension.

No offense intended, but these are the kinds of responses from vendors that drive me up the wall. Clearly you can't add 10" to the system and not add any weight and you have both of these on hand since you clearly developed them. How hard would it be to put them on a scale or even add up the sum of the components and give the actual weights?

 

You are right, I could have been more specific. When I said that they were roughly 210lbs, it was meant to give a general weight for somebody to determine the much larger question of their trucks payload without knowing the bed length. My apologies for generalizing. The difference of the two systems is 20lbs. The short bed system being 205lbs. The long bed system is 225lbs.

Thank you. Not trying to be abrasive but when you have a truck with such a low payload, it's good to be able to account for every pound. I mean 20lbs may not be a lot in the grand scheme of things but that's a 10% difference between the two.

 

Agree on keeping weight as little and as light as possible.

Just picked up a used Decked today for $600. The previous owner hacked a big ass hole in the passenger side ammo can to be able to flip open the outlet cover. I don’t use the outlet so i gotta figure out a creative way to get the hole closed up.

 

@decked do you sell ammo cans ala carte?

 

If you haven’t yet look up some youtube videos on plastic welding. You can fix that pretty cheaply and easily if you don’t care to make it a seamless looking professional job.

Hey guys. I'm not sure if anyone has checked the measurements or tried it but.... Has anyone seen/heard of/tried putting a DECKED system for a short bed into a long bed that has a tool chest? I have a tool chest mounted in my truck bed and it looks like there is maybe a little more room than a short bed would have. I just bought a camper top and I am wanting these drawers to put some supplies/ maybe a few guns in. this system just seems lighter than the truck vault and more secure than just having a plano box that has guns in it. Thanks for any insight.

 

My uncle has one in his f150... Complete waste of a truck bed 90% of the time. Buy some lockable Rubbermaid bins and you will be better off. I have a 20 ft python lock I snake through mine to make sure nobody can swipe them from the bed. I guess if you had a tonneau that would also hide them.
