Be persistent. It took me 3 tries till i got my new bell housing. i had 3 tsb's done at the same time all which were out of warranty. You will get what you want. It is just becoming a big enough problem that they cant ignore it. i bet within 2 months it will be so big they wont be able to ignore it.

Mine is in the shop as we speak until tuesday. I was tired of the "we cant replicate it" speech and so i video taped it 2 different times, then i asked for the head mechanic and when he came out i had loaded the video on my MP3 player and had him watch it.

I got the horror brief of "it could be a wear item and not warrantied so if e break it down you may have to pay for it". i had confidence due to the TW buzz about this issue and was well educated about it when i talked to him. they called me today and said good news, its all under warranty and they are replacing my bell housing and clutch assembly.

cant beat that, thanks again TW

I have two months left on my powertrain warranty. The service writer told me there was no charge to me. Not sure if that's because the regional rep made an exception, or if it's because they recognize they have an issue. Truck goes back for the work on thursday. I will keep you guys posted.

well got mine back yesterday afternoon. runs like a champ and the clutch feels and sounds great. New bell housing and clutch assembly @ 50,000. I'm happy for now. lets just hope it lasts.

Oh yeah the mech notes said T/O Bearing was rattling and case was damaged. they also resurfaced my flywheel.

Hello all...new member here. I'm having the same chirp issue, saw this post, went to the dealer and BAM! Not covered under my certified 7yr/100K powertrain warranty, so Toyota Extra Care says. They directed me to Toyota's customer service which has made a claim number and is working with the dealer to decide on who's to pay. They've not even got past the diagnosis other than they verified the chirp from the bell housing... and why does my tranny not have a removable window? Anyway, just an FYI, more to come. Glad to have Tacoma World for good info on all related issues...

Got mine back today. Just did the clutch assembly and resurfaced the flywheel. Seems fine so far, time will tell. Not one dime charged to me. 50K miles.

I am pissed too, but I think you should be more than me. Mine is an 07 and is getting a bit more noticeable. Next week they are going to replace the T/O bearing and some other junk. The shitty part is that my warranty on it runs out next week as well and Toyota would not give a rats tail about it even if I purchased while I was stationed overseas. Quality is pure shit on these vehicles. I think I will reconsider a domestic truck next time.

would there be any modifications that would not allow this to be covered? My tranns has redline oil in it now so would that or anything else affect warranty for this issue?

Is this problem only happening with the 6-speeds? Has anyone with the 4cyl and 5 speed had this issue?

Where can I find this in writing? Toyo USA. My warranty expires on 27 Sept. It is going for the rear leaf, windshield and the tranny noise issues. Parts where ordered on Monday but I am afraid that this will not fix the tranny issue. Can the dealer be made to fix with the 5 yr/60k power train warranty? I am so dizzy from reading all the issues on this post that I am ready to take some ambien and not wake up until next year. The local dealership is mediocre at best. Their welcoming service attendants are plain idiots and they tried to tell me is all normal and that there were NO TSBs on my 2007. Yeah right until I slapped a copy of the leaf spring TSB, then they were willing to take it to the back and play with it.

I hope you are referring to 2011. Your post is from 2009 and toyota can care less for this issue. I am "working" with mine on the same shit.

So this kit will fix this for life? Like for the next 200k miles until I kill the truck? I do not plan on buying more vehicles after this one.
