Renault disqualified from Japanese GP results

 

Haws anyone read the articles enough to understand what they were doing. I read it, but it's still unclear to me. It wasn't preset like force india suggested, but it appears to have been changing without driver input.

 

I read one and don't quite understand it either. They weren't in violation of the technical regulations but were found guilty of violating the sporting regulations. I guess that means their hearts' weren't in the right place.

 

I think Renault was making the changes to the settings from outside the vehicle instead of the drivers from the cockpit. That's how I read it. It wasn't automatic or self-adjusting like they were suspected of having, but the team was making the changes for the drivers.

 

After watching FP2, I get the feeling one of the front runners is going to make a big mistake tomorrow. A lot of cars wanting the rear to go ahead of the front. LeClerc, Albon, Bottas, Max...all had moments. Hope it’s a good race, always a fun watch

Not that it matters, but why didn't they just throw out the lap? Isn't this what they have done in the past?

 

Cause it was a safety thing. Didnt slow down with a crashed car could have ended badly (and had time to slow down, unlike Lewis). Dont remember any precedence (on just invalidating lap with no penalties) though.

Always seems like when things go against Max, they really go against him. Would have been interesting to see him on pole and if he could have won.
