Well my truck was broken into yesterday at the gym. I heard the overhead page “will the owner of a white Tacoma come to the front”. My heart started racing like you would when you get a call from a hospital or your kid’s school.

I usually leave my wallet in the truck when I workout but I was lucky I forgot to leave it in the truck this time. Front my assessment the only things stolen were my Ray-bans, about $100 cash and all the change. My garage door openers and other keys were left behind.

This is the second time was truck was broken in to. The first time was when someone tried to get into my tailgate.

I’ve learned that my Tacoma does not come with an alarm? i questioned why my alarm didn’t go off. The officer showed me that she could unlock my truck without it going off.

On a side note, someone else’s truck was broken into at the gym the same time mine was. I was told someone with a hoodie broke into the trucks. The security cameras didn’t get a good image of the suspect.

I hate thieves. Anyone in SoCal 626 area know of a good window repair place?

Sorry to hear. This is why I leave the doors open and only leave what I’m willing to lose in the truck.

If they break the window and don't open the door the alarm won't go off.
Did you add the glass breakage sensor? If so, then the alarm should go off when they break the glass.

The alarm if armed, won’t go off if a window is broken. However if they reached in and unlocked the door and opened it the alarm should of went off. The BCM shuts down the switch so you have to unlock the actuator.

The officer unlocked my door while it was “armed” and nothing happened. She was able to enter my vehicle without a alarm. I’ll have to retest it but she showed me.

Do our trucks not come with an alarm as standard?

This why I don't drive nice vehicles, my truck looks used, worn and I also lock up everything inside so if someone decides to break into a beat up looking truck then well, they will be disappointed. Its a game, thieves are opportunistic if you make it not worth their time then you lower you chance of another break in.

I would highly recommend a console vault and a ESP under seat storage vault for you know valuables. If you get a canopy opt for one(usually commercial versions) with poly carbonate windows or no windows. It also helps to not be predictable, change routes you drive frequently and park in different spots insight of either cameras or other humans. You more than likely were not followed but a brand new looking vehicle made you a target.

Remember an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I parked right in front of the gym too! With cameras nearby! I don’t leave anything you’d want to steal in plain sight. The thieve would have only been able to see a water bottle from the outside.
Talking to the employees there, they said this is the 3rd incident of a break in this month. I live in a nice area too so this is a bit alarming.

Do you have stickers on the driver/passenger side windows saying equipped with Toyota alarm?

Edit: Your vehicle have a key fob? Were you standing next to it when the officer opened the door? I'm wondering what did the officer do to open the door.

Yep, i had my gym look into it, and it was verified that a white Ford escape bumped my front end and went and reparked in a different spot instead of next to my truck. They asked me what i wanted to do, and I had them notify the police and i'll file a hit and run report. I hate shady mother fuckers and I'm going to teach them a lesson.

Once again opportunistic. Its why Coronado has a high bike theft rate everyone has nice bikes, they live in a nice heavily traficked area which makes it an easy theft.
