Single cabs are so sexy. Easily the best looking. I had to go access cab because of space, but damn...

I'm lucky. We use the wife's Sequoia to haul the family, and I get a sweet "sports car" for my daily driver.

I like my long bed but I also have an access cab. Hauling things is easier in this configuration and if you aren't doing offroading you won't need the shorter length, wheelbase, and turning radius. I vote long bed.

If you're coming from an F150, also consider the width of the bed. Although the body of my DCLB is longer than the T100 it replaced, the bed was not only shorter but it was also narrower.

I would have bought a 4WD single cab, but they're now getting harder to find in mint condition. It seems like every Josh bought one and proceeded to fuck it up in my area with shitty mods

You are correct. It took me a year of searching, with 6 months of seriously hard searching to find this one.
It came with the lift kit which I wasn't thrilled about but it's not terrible. I did like that it had 3 mods I was going to do anyway. It came with cruise control, intermittent wipers, and fog lights. One kicker it had that I wasn't looking for but use frequently is the sliding rear window. I'm supposed to cough it up to my son next year but don't tell my wife, that ain't gonna happen. :)

Excellent point that I forgot to mention. I do have a 4x8 ft $299 utility trailer that I got from Harbor Freight 10 yrs ago that is great to haul any larger items.

Long bed all the way!! So much more convenient, I don’t put much stuff in the bed but when I do I’m great full to have the extra room

I have the shortbed and that is the one thing I regret about my truck. The long bed not only gives you more room and cargo capacity, the extra wheelbase is helpful when towing. I can’t think of a drawback to having the long bed.

Turning radius and break over angle? That is if you do somewhat serious off roading.

If you have a vehicle in addition to your truck to haul people in, then the long bed access cab makes the most since imho. If you want a vehicle that is all purpose then the double cab makes sense. Size of bed depends on what you are doing, if you hardly ever haul anything then maybe the short bed, however if you never haul anything why get a truck? The "popular" truck is the DCSB, made it easier for me to get a good deal on my ACLB. As someone has probably said it comes down to what is most important to you.

Short box for the win, that is an entire apartment minus couch and kitchen table (chairs are there). If you're creative and dont mind having the tailgate down, you can make a short bed work.

Why carry around the extra length and deal with the worse turning radius all the time ? The rare occasion you NEED a long box you could rent a 5x8 uhaul and put the taco long box to shame

Double cab long bed all day long. I am so happy with mine. On and offroad. You MUST lift the suspension though. Otherwise will look like a limo.

I bought my Tacoma in April 2017 (brand new). I would have preferred a long bed, but for the 2017 model year (at least), Toyota decided that we who prefer a manual transmission were not worthy of a long bed truck. Since a manual transmission is something I will use everytime I drive the truck, it was a higher priority item for me, and hence I had no choice other than the short bed.
