I search for a topic and didn't see one, so I was wondering if anybody ever had this issue?

Have not had a problem until today, while hunting and going through deep water the AC will quit blowing cold. The light flashes on the button and when I push it off and repush it on its cold again.

Only thing is different from this year to last is always on cigarette lighter, and the ABS off mod. I have tried with the ABS on and off and no different. My next time through the water I am going to unplug all my cigarette lighter accessories.

Thanks in advance and hopefully someone knows of a common issue.

    UPDATE......11/6
After the advice of people on here I replace the serpentine belt and lo and behold I have not had the AC shut off yet while going through water holes. Yes you are had with the steering is also fixed not sure if the belt did it or if spraying PB Blaster on the knuckle on the steering shaft did it? But in case anybody else has the issue I will say it worked just replacing the belt so thanks to all.

    Your driving through deep water.
Your submerging the compressor it appears.
The rpms of the ac don’t match engine so it flashes the light and shuts off the compressor
Your mods should have nothing to do with it.

Okay, I just went back through with everything unplugged from the cigarette lighter and it did it again. The weird thing is never had a problem last year and my other two friends out here with their Tacomas are not having a problem?

It’s deep enough it’s getting to the compressor. Your compressor is located almost at the bottom of the engine.

    Last time I knew Tacoma’s weren’t a submarine.

Weather the others are doing it or not.

    Your having an rpm difference

The belt is slipping, ac clutch is slipping, or the ecu is seeing something it doesn’t like.

Not that it matters your going to do it anyway.
Try shutting off the system and after you go through then turn it on. See if that works.
May help you from wearing something out.
She’s an old girl ,help her out a little lol

Trust me it's not a submarine hole LOL, the water I guarantee you might be 6 in Deep by about 20 foot long nothing major and a stated before I have had it in worse. I would definitely not consider this any kind of abuse or something that a four-by-four should not be able to control I've gone through much worse water on the interstate and rain storms.

I guess my main thing should be maybe is that a sign of the compressor going out or something wearing out that I'm going to look at fixing?

Lol you have given us three diff depths in here.

    Np lol.

Like I said before just try it shut off.
If the clutch is trying to engage while your soaking it it might slip but if your SERP belt is old...

Thank you for that sir, I do like it and try to research first. Thats why I was hoping someone else had this problem and was a simple fix.

And no I know I said deep water but figured if I had said puddle and posted a pic they would have grilled me for it lol. So I went the other way and confused everyone lol. No I have went through some that rolled over the hood last year with no problems and did it in my 1st gen for years lol. And as stated there are 3 of us out there with 2nd gens and Im the only one with problems

I had a friend who had a Hyundai with the same problem. When it would rain her A/C wouldn't work. It turned out that water was getting on the belt and making it loose.

Yes sir extended lines very high and fluid changes every year after hunting season....

Also I should add, I am 40 years old and do this every hunting season for 3 months since I was a kid with my dad ( who still does it with me at 69 :amen: ). And then it gets a very detailed maintenance and this isnt just to beat my poor girl up lol.
