Sorry it’s a closed air intake box with high flow filter. Has anyone done this? Any feedback? Is it loud? Thanks!

I suppose you’re right. All this CAI is snake oil.

I mean it depends. As long as your expectations are within what the product provides.
    - look cool : check
    - no noticeable or measurable improvement in hp, ft/lbs, or mpg : check
    - sounds loud and gets people looking your way : check
It does do those things though: look cool, sound loud

I am looking because I’m wondering with my supercharger whether it makes a bigger difference. Loud isn’t my deal. What I need is a new hood. Mine is beat up. Maybe do as another member did here and do a functioning hood scoop.

Yeah that guy's scoop is sweet. I memba when he built it. I had my doubts but it looked damn good and functioned. Oh so you've got a blower, well if that box setup allowed more airflow compared to the OEM setup than it might help the supercharger. But I don't think it does. But I've been wrong plenty of times.

I’ve seen it in person. It’s like it was made by Toyota for that one truck.

I went from stock filter back and forth to the AFe pro dry and no difference. The most boost I have gotten on my S/C is 7 PSI with the stock filter. Granted conditions were right. It wasn’t hot. The truck wasn’t hot. The air was dense and it was cooler morning weather.

Oh nice, yeah he's an cool dude, he has a just little bit of experience with the supercharger, so he's kind of a resource around here too.....:D:cool::rofl:
He's prolly driven more supercharged miles than all the rest of the blown first genners combined

It's nice to hear you be rational about it over all though, like while we're discussing it, you know? Seriously. Know it alls make things unnecessarily difficult

For some reason with 1997’s exhaust and CAI intake, it sounded normal to me aside from the S/C. I got a 3” pipe after my muffler with a tip and I can hear it. Not loud. But I can hear it.

Weird. Either way, the sound stuff is more just personal taste. But it would be nice to actually have some data, like dyno runs.
Wait a sec hasn't 1997 have his run on the dyno in between mods and stuff??? I swear I remember something like that. I mean if the numbers show something, it's hard to deny that. Did he dyno his before and after the cold air thing went on?

Maybe. I’m not sure if it’s before and after a CAI with everything the same.

Then it’s how you drive. I like the low end power. Always have. It’s seems those CAI add power up top.

We know a deck plate mod adds one HP. But as soon as the truck gets to hot or in hot weather, it doesn’t matter.

That sounds about right. Maybe 1 and half. But if it gets above 80 degrees ambient temp...
