I was lucky enough to drive a Lancer Evo with a sequential dog box tranny. Short version is the direction of up and down shifts are reversed on my Taco from what I like. Anyone ever have their auto selector out to see how it works?

    It's not a manual option.

I *think* I've heard of someone swapping orientation of that actuation on a Tacoma. But you'd want to make sure and update your guide indicators for 'others' driving your truck.

Also, S mode isn't a true manual selector; it only sets the maximum gear. So unless you have OVTune and gear lock mode, it's a bit squirrelly to make it shift 'like' a manual.

Switch the red (pin 1) and green (pin 3) wires on the 5-pin connector going into the shifter and you'll have what you're looking for.

As was said though, it's not really a manual shifter, and you should probably change the labels to not confuse anyone driving the truck, haha.

Make sure you do your steering wheel volume / track select at the same time.

Is the OVT and gear lock the same program?

Yes and no. OVTune is an aftermarket ECU tune focused on improving the drivability of the Tacoma. Additional power and torque is a ‘ride along’ benefit.

OVTune has various tunes, and one of them is a gear lock tune that changes the behavior of S mode. In that tune S mode behaves much like a manual selector for which gear to be in. It will stay in the chosen gear unless in danger of stalling, at which point it will downshift.
