It’s not the people at the bottom. My wife was always hoping to find a way to pay out fairly, but management blocked all attempts in many cases.

Yeah, but the insurance companies know all the lawyers personally, and after you leave the lawyers office, they call each other to chat about how much your lawyer fees will likely be, vs possible pay-out, and come to a verbal agreement on just how much both entities will screw you without you noticing.

At the time she worked for the government-run insurance company we have here in B.C.: Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC). It’s the default insurance provider in the province.

I’m not making this stuff up. The insurance companies and lawyers have close, long-standing relationships, that are more important to both parties than your sorry ass. You’re just the guy with a sack of money caught in the middle. Ideally, most of your money goes to the lawyer, in return for as little money as possible being paid out.

    it’s a win/win for them.

OP slept on the wrong side of the bed which in turn caused the insurance company to deny the claim. They will literally find anything as stupid as it may be and decline the claim down south

Well, Guadalajara is tequila central. But it’s also hooker and cartel territory. Looks like that run of “special cargo” is gonna be a write-off.

I thought it was common sense that people knew their truck wouldn't be covered if driving in Mexico. I remember when I lived in SoCal this was in the finer points of the policy paperwork.
