Any time I have to leave something of value in the truck, I pull the little key out of the fob, put it in the glove box and lock it. Not saying a thief couldn't break into it, but they generally like to get in and get out quick. Anything that will make it harder on the scum I'll do.

I have an Off Road, but I don't think I have an alarm, even though I have a flashing red light on the dash. BTW, OP also has an Off Road, but with the Pro style door decal![IMG]

Until the yoke your factory radio
Good catch just seen the badge didn’t notice no skewp and the wheels are different. Your OR should have an alarm.

to test roll down the window. Lock the truck with the fob. Wait 40 seconds then reach in and unlock the actuator and open the door. The alarm should go off.

Shouldn't the window sticker list all standard and optional equipment, including the alarm, if it is present?

Not sure. They don’t even include it in the brochure.

I just tested my truck. I locked it and then manually unlocked my truck. The alarm did go off. I’m surprised that the alarm didn’t go off when the glass was smashed. But I think the thieves jumped through the broken window to rummage through my items. No way they would have stayed if the alarm went off. This happened in broad daylight.

Glass break sensors trigger an alarm when they detect certain audio frequencies whereas a door typically uses a switch that triggers the alarm when the contacts or either opened or closed.

Are you waiting 30 seconds after locking and making sure the smart key is far enough away from the truck?

Just a hint tweakers don't give a shit about your glovebox door lock and will cause all kinds of collateral damage just trying to get in. It's like a lotto scratcher for them and if they run across a locked glovebox it's as good as have two unicorns scratched off.

Yeah well tweakers or not there is a certain faction of people who walk around checking doors and if they are unlocked you just gave them free pass to what ever is in your truck. If its locked these people keep moving along like nothing happened.

Would this apply if you use the fob to lock the car? I assuming licking the car automatically sets the alarm.

My old cars would have an alarm if any movement on the car would set it off. Like if someone tried to open the car when locked or taps on the window. Doesn’t sound like these cars do that anymore.
