    Pretty much. Dudes with 50 year old AKs and a 30 year old spam can of ammo pop off some shots at our guys and I get to go out and respond with a couple of $120k missiles from a $35 million dollar airplane.

    I should specify that I mean actual American freedom, not necessarily freedom of other US interests around the world. Afghanistan was over before any regular armed forces showed up on the ground and Iraq was a mess that should have never happened. We just can’t help but get ourselves involved in stuff that we really don’t need to be involved in and once we’re there we aren’t allowed to win.

    You can blame Truman for that following WWII. That was when our foreign policy actually changed. We were pretty much forced into both world wars, which we tried to avoid based on what Washington cautioned.

    WWI- The USS Lusitania and Germany’s secret deal with Mexico (Zimmermann Telegram)
    WWII- Pearl Harbor obviously

    @Fernando Probably the same reason I have to actively avoid the desire to watch them. Not sure if it’s reliving the excitement of combat and the firefights or IEDs, or some depraved desire for self punishment. Whenever I give in, the dreams and ideations come back. Super anxious in public, far more then what I’ve gotten it down to. Really low stress tolerances, isolated... all the typical nonsense. Not helpful but that’s what my reasoning is for “watching.”

    Hope you’ve gotten back to your base level after watching.
