I didn't drink any kool aide. But, if a MT DCLB was available in my neck o the woods - that's what I would be driving. The tranny sucks. There are lots of cars out there (I know I rent a lot of cars) that suck just as much. But, the shifting is pretty crummy if you don't know how to put the tranny in 'S' and shift yourself. If you want just forget about it - well.....forget about it.

But, I still like the truck.

I wonder if the feeling of being underpowered would go away if I could row my own.

But, in Canuk land - no MT DCLB available.

No manual doublecab long box in any woods. That combo isn't made. Auto only. Unless someone is brave and builds one themselves.

The question is: Why does Toyota offer different model/tranny set ups in the USA and Canada, especially when Canada is such a small market? Or does Mexico get the same model set up as Canada, thus creating a larger combined market for the OR AC LB MT and Sport DC SB MT?

From what I have read, every Tacoma sold in Canada is built in the Texas plant.

No Mexican built trucks sold in Canada.

All access cab Tacoma trucks are built in Texas.

All manual transmission trucks are built in Texas.

I don't understand why the off-road access cab MT is not available in the US.

Whatever, guy. Why are you riding the lift and not touring across the road in Grizzly Gulch? Also, maybe wash you ski jacket...smells like BO, spilt beer and cheap weed. And not in a good way, more like "morning after a frat party"

Still better than all the jerry ass ski tourists we get though.

How is a manual more capable off-road?

I can't imagine any possible REAL advantage.

Better control always. Example: going downhill without braking

“Kooks only no locals” is perfect for TW

You have to be a Toyota pickup “local” to get it. The kookery abounds up in this bitch

I used to have an old ford falcon van that was 3 on the tree with a 283. Finding gears was like stirring soup. You don't know how to drive manual if youv'e never been tested in one of those in heavy traffic on hills. Roll back you say ? My wife drives manual no issues, my sons learned how to drive in a manual no issues. But at 55, screw that. For all of its shortcomings, AT for me.
