Then that was the DAC or Auto LSD Relay. The devices the OP circled are fuses.

I might have been thinking of something else I pulled a relay for. It's fuse #42. I didn't have DAC, and I had a real LSD. (Auto LSD was 2009+)

What you have circled in the picture is the 50 amp ABS Fuse # 1.

Sorry to butt in, I can't really relate to this with my 2010 but sounds like a shitty problem to have and I'm learning from the banter here.

One question I have at this point is, assuming that there is in fact a correlation between tires and abs performance, would that actually explain the shudder specifically?

I understand that. But it is still the 50 Ampere ABS Fuse # 1. Not that it matters we could call it Fred and it would still be a fuse rated at 50 amps for the ABS System...

From the Toyota Shop Service Manual.

Well yeah. That's why it's labeled with a 50 on top...

Anyway, that's how I disabled ABS. It was too sensitive on my Tacoma, and a quick Google search will show many people have the same issue. It's not bad tires, it's an issue with ABS.

I get the same issue with my 2014. As I slow to a stop at an intersection and one side has ice, the ABS kicks in and I just keep rolling right out into the intersection. Annoying as hell. At least I know now when it will happen but the first few times had my ass all in a pucker as my foot was jamming the pedal into the floor and it felt like I was actually gaining speed as it just kept rolling.

We have this same debate every winter.
For the ice dwellers here just do the ABS Disable Mod and be done with it.

Ice sucks. I feel you, but ice was slippery even before ABS Brakes. ABS was not meant to decrease stopping distance. Its purpose is to allow you to steer when the wheels are trying to lock up during emergency braking.

I guess all you have for us smart-ass replies? I know how ABS works. I've had multiple vehicles with it, and none have been triggered so easily, nor take as long to disengage. I get that in some situations, braking distance increases. But at what point would it be considered counter-productive?

The shudder is the brakes applying and releasing many times per second. Still happens whether tires are bald as baloney skins or brand new.

Right. I guess I was confused as to why abs would only shudder on a slippery surface. I figure that, as far as abs goes, braking is braking. Do abs and traction control interact at all?

Y'all can correct me if I'm wrong, but the way I've always understood it, ABS kicks in when you're trying to stop and traction control kicks in when you're accelerating and the tires slip. TC causes the engine to reduce power or cut out when your foot is mashing the gas and things go slidey.

Do the abs kill switch mod. Simple and very handy. Re-learn threshold braking.
