BUYER BEWARE: 3rd Gen Plug-N-Play Tailgate Bolt-N-Lock & Tailgate Bolt-N-Open

Question - Once everything is installed, am I going to be able to lock/unlock the tailgate from the inside cabin as well? without using the the key fob? I'm looking at the $150 complete kit. What is the differences between the $95 kit from ebay and $150 option?

 

The tailgate lock is tied in to the door lock wiring so yes, any time you lock/unlock the doors either from the fob or the buttons on the doors, the tailgate will do the same. The $150 kit includes extra hardware for popping open the tailgate - the $95 kit is just the hardware for lock/unlock.

I sent money on Tuesday, she told me prior to ordering she'd ship the next day, and she may have. But I've heard nothing, and she won't reply to anything. I feel sure I'll get what I ordered and be happy with it. But the customer service is somewhat lacking. IMO.

P.S I know some people will read this and jump to her defense. No need, I'm not attacking just stating fact

 

I know she’s waiting on a fresh batch of the Bolt and Lock brackets to show up on this coming Tuesday to get the next round of orders ready and shipped . That’s usually what takes the most time to make for these kits as I usually have them computer cut and than bend and thread tap each bracket 1 by one , plus the connector rod fabrication and hardware sorting and bagging .

Apologies for the customer service but I can definitely tell you it’s worth the wait . All the parts that are included in the kits make the install super simple .

I bought the first version of this way back when. No issues with it but I'm sure my install was less than perfect. I sometimes see a little flex in the metal as actuation occurs and it's rather noisy. Is flex like that something to be concerned about? The noise is a first-world problem. I bet both could be solved if I got the bracket and rod?

 

Where is your actuator mounted ?

 

I followed the OG instructions and tapped two holes in the metal bridge of the tailgate support brace thingy.

I am sure it would cut down on the vibration on the inside of the gate . For me it would be a plus to have a more cleaner set up . That’s why I enjoy making these for everyone , No one has to drill holes in there tailgates anymore .

 

Drilling did make me nervous but it's done. I do need to get in there and see if anything rusted. Might as well put in for the bracket and rod.

 

I apologize to those that have sent me a PM. I did not get to all of my PMs this weekend. I will continue to work on them throughout the week as well as get out Tailgate Lock orders. That is a priority this week for sure

 

Had a quick question, with this kit can you unlock the tailgate with the Door lock controls in the Cab? If so is there a way to disable it so that it only works with the key fob?
