@Rick's 2012 Where did all this gen vs gen hate come from? I had a Tacoma in 2007 before I wrecked it years later. Got into a 2015 recently, but I dont remember the hate back in the days. Wtf happened all these yeaes? I actually like the 3rd gen body style the most of any, 2nd gen reliability and low end torque, 1st gen started it all.

I own(ed) all 3 gens. All gens have their unique pros and cons but all great trucks at the end of the day

I don't know. I think it's rediculous myself. I can see people having a personal preference about what Gen they like best, but to actually have hate towards the other ones is beyond reason.
It seems like people have turned their preference of one truck into a 'Hate anything else' attitude!
Years ago I was always a 'Big Three' vehicle buyer. But during that time, l never hated other people's choice of vehicles. l had my preference for my reasons and other people had there's. That's the great thing about having choices.
But you're absolutely right, it was never like this year's ago. People had class years ago. Unlike today. It's become too easy to anonymously express hate toward others.
I have a 2012 Tacoma, but I like the 1st Gen's and a 3rd Gen's as well. If it wasn't for the 1st Gen, the 2nd Gen wouldn't exist. Same thing with the 3rd Gen. The 4th Gen will subsequently exist because of the 3rd Gen.
It's because of all Gen Tacoma enthusiasts that the aftermarket is as plentiful as it is.
I ignore people that can't accept other's personal choice. Those people are a cancer to the hobby.

    Cheers Tacoma OC714

l agree 100%. We all have our own favorite gen or maybe specific year. But that doesn't mean the others are bad. But some just can't see that. If something were to happen to my Tacoma, I'd buy another one on a heartbeat. Whatever Gen!!

@Rick's 2012 With 2 boys under 2 years old and me wanting to pick up another Tacoma, I was torn between a 2019/waiting for a 2020 or save money with a late 2nd gen. Went with a 2015 because I got a smoking deal on it - $25k with 50k miles trd off road 4x4 crew cab 1 owner. Hardest decision ever. And I didnt want to lease like a lot of people I personally know who got deals on leased Tacomas. I didnt want to over leverage myself with a new 3rd gen financed so I stuck with a 2nd gen. Regarding the hate, a buddy of mine with a 3rd gen had a great analogy. Tacomas have turned into the fast and the furious type of scene with some owners. Who can mod theirs better, faster, nicer, etc. Whether it's hitting some trails, camping, baja type scene, it's all about just getting outdoors. Who cares what year.

If it's all you want in the specs you're looking for, take a look and see if you want to make that move. Unless something's wrong or you're concerned about something in particular about your 07, maybe hold on to it a bit longer and revisit. You're not gaining anything in capability or much in safety. Is there a reason you're looking to buy it?

100,000 less miles is the main reason. I figure on having the truck for many years, unless Toyota decides to make the 4th generation something I have to get.

The longer I keep my 2nd gen, the greater the sticker shock when I go to look at new trucks:pout:

Gotcha. That's great miles for a 15' if you don't mind going for it. In a way, I made a similar move. I had an 06'. Jumped to a 17', then back to a 14' (current). I do enjoy the slight interior and exterior differences between the 06' and 14', and the backup camera is super handy (although you can install one in your 07'). Good luck with your decision.

The new frame is the decider. Tacomas routinely get 300K on their engines but it is your money. You could pimp(sorry if that offends anyone)out that Gen 2 2007 huge on that budget, however, it is your money. I know what I would do.

Here's my take: Install black Clazzio leather seat covers and a new head unit (maybe cheap double din android HU) and maybe some kicker speakers for good measure on the old one and call it your "new" ride.

You know it's going to run forever, so just give it a new look and some extras, and it'll feel the same as if you bought a "new" 2015. It already rides the same,. and will continue to ride the same for the next decade. Plus no payments.

Now if you get a 3rd gen, that's a more noticeable difference in ride quality and interior/gadgets. But I would want to skip over the 2016 (first model after redesign) and get a 2017 at least. But that's alot of money now. How bad do you want New?

I got a 2015 because I didn't have a Tacoma, and my reasoning was that it was the best version of the 2nd gen I could buy. 2016 and up got too expensive at the time, and the 2nd gens look better by my opinion.

I had a 2017 Tacoma for close to 2 months while my 07 got a new frame. Loved the stereo system, the light for the bed, and the tailgate dampener. Did not like the 3.5 compared to the 4.0 though. If this 2015 was closer I probably would have looked at it, but it's 1.5 hrs away in the city and I'm not a fan of the city.
