Back in the old day, we used sockets and a sledge hammer. Now, I think I'll just rent the ball joint press adapters and find someone with a press!

I've done it that way before. Causes more damage than good and most the time end up with a sub par end result in my experience. Used the ball joint press kit as well, still prefer a shop press. Much more control when exerting pressing than wrenching on it with a impact or breaker bar.

I think I will. My LCA is just about the last suspension component that hasn't been upgraded on my truck. The least I can do is upgrade the bushings and possibly the ball joint. Probably reinforce the arms as well, make my poor man's version of the stock length Total Chaos LCAs.

Yea I was weighing my options, buy some used stock length total chaos. Or try and rebuild my own, seems like the aftermarket everything is junk wasn't sure what ball joint to try. Just long travel it? :spending:

I just can't justify long travel with where we all wheel. A solid axle swap would be more beneficial IMO. But that's being reserved for something that isn't my daily. I did find that Moog redesigned their ball joint boots. They're integrated as opposed to being a slip on boot. Much less chance for them to tear. I think I'll give them a shot and see. Its never the ball joint fail for me its always the boot; these sort of eliminate that issue all together. Pictured below is the complete ball joint with boot.

You really can't go wrong with Moog stuff. I've had good luck with their wheel bearings.
