Dyno test experiment

I've scheduled a dyno test that I will live stream via my YouTube channel Spartan ADV. The test will put to bed two different topics: ACIS disconnect and K&N filters vs stock. The test will be long and uninterrupted (hopefully). Nothing will be monetized, all costs will be mine alone, and this experiment is solely for the benefit of the community, nothing more. Thanks for doing this. Post the 3.5L engine description PDF of ACIS if you get a chance. This very clearly shows the valve and its function. I will post later today, if you can't get to it. Thanks

Just a note, someone did a dyno test about a year ago. They tested both the stock filter and no filter. There was no change in the dyno output.

I just tried this on my truck for the commute home. I have OV Tune, primarily to fix what I believed was either the transition from Atkinson to otto or an issue with the torque converter slip our trucks have. OV had made it much better, but unplugging the ACIS took every bit of stutter out of my truck. I did notice a bit less power above 5000 rpm, but not much, and since I am rarely in that range, I don't care. I am curious if @bshammer0 will give this a try. His description of the "stutter" most closely sounded like what I had going on. The real test for me will be if I can run 87 octane. My stutter was always more pronounce with lower octane gas.

 

Does it throw a CEL?

 

Have you tried the 2.0 Betas? They were very smooth and linear from idle to redline. Although no release notes were given, it was said that the Betas had the revised ACIS code.

 

I may indeed try that at some point, but I'm running the stock B04 right now pending final 2.0 OV release, and the stutter isn't an issue with my truck on 93 octane. Ever. Any time I've run 87 octane stock or tuned (though less when tuned) there's been a stutter that feels like a slight miss feeling so I've just stuck w/ 93 and haven't felt a stutter in a very long time. Sorry I can't be of more help.

I've heard your supposed to disable traction control when doing dyno pulls or bad stuff can happen.
Is it a legit concern?

 

Yes.

 

No idea. I'll look into that. I wouldn't think so as this isn't for tuning purposes, but I'll look into it.

 

You’ll pick up 4-5 horsepower in the midrange and lose it at redline so the dyno will record a zero gain.

For the Dyno test are you going to take into consideration Density Altitude / corrected elevation during back to back dyno pulls ??
