Sorry in advance if this is a silly question. What is the different kinds of tunes people are talking about? I've seen FOB, 1.03, 04BK*, 1.05, 2.0? What is Beta? I plan on continuing to use 87 octane and given I have a 2018 what tune should I use? Looking for overall driveability improvement.

Beta always refers to 2.0 Betas that we were given to test. There are only two versions. Ones were posted in July and the ones up on the OVT site now.

Start with any tune that sounds interesting to you and put at least two tanks on to fully feel it out.

For me the Betas are great. FOB friggin' works for bottom end torque. Testing and flashing is fun.

Random question but does OVtune support speedo/odometer recalibration due to larger tires? Or is another device needed

Not at this time. I believe it was asked if it could be included in the tune, but I don't remember the answer.

So I purchased the OB2 adapter and plug from a fellow Tacoma world friend. Is the only thing left I need to purchase is the license from OVTune? Are there any specific steps I need to take in order to purchase just the license?

Just send an email to support@ovtune.zendesk.com, tell him who you bought it from and request an invoice for license. Then once you have paid the invoice, send him your computer info (as described on his website instructions) to get your registration key.
This is what I did. The whole process only took 2 days. But with the move going on right now, might take longer.

Thanks for the quick response sounds easy enough just curious how come I need to let OVTune know who I purchased the equipment from?

I guess so he can verify the original order and cancel his registration key.

Thanks again for the response. Does the registration key carry over in the OB2 port adapter? Is it necessary for him to verify the original order? Again just curious how all this works still very new to me.

Is that all printed on the adapter? Is anything else needed in order for me to purchase a license?
