What do you guys add to the front of your vehicle, if anything, to be sure you are seen?

    Here's why I ask:
I motorcycle a lot and based on that experience I have learned that being conspicuous in the front helps a *lot* to be noticed and therefore safer. (The number one cause of motorcycle collisions is someone not seeing you and turning left in front of you, say at an intersection.)

So for my motorcycles I mount two extra lights below the headlight so the 3 lights have a triangle effect, AND I make the two lower lights yellow.

    I DO get noticed! Thankfully.....

So in the truck world I have seen "grille lights", which is normally say 3 or 4 lights in yellow or amber, mounted within the grille cross pieces, and I think these look like a good idea.

On my TRD Off Road Tern Overlander build, I am mounting a CBI aluminum front bumper, for lightness, winch mount and it will have an upper bar to help protect my radiator and headlights.

There is a provision for moving the stock headlights over to the new bumper fog light location.

I was thinking about making these stock fog lights be yellow, as IMO fog lights are almost useless.

What other ways are there to gain conspicuity in the front of my Tacoma?

    Thanks!

I added switchbacks in place of the front turn signal bulbs which come on with the parking lights and can be dimmed 50% when the headlights are on or not and turn amber when the turn signals are in use.

I have the raptor lights in the grille, LED bulbs and then I throw on my Rigid DOT foglights when I am on the highway at night. Every single time; especially in bad weather. In winter, I pop on the amber covers too.

I also have a 20" lightforce bar and a 40" Heretic bar if needed.

Parts are available from VLEDS...you purchase their V6 triton switchback bulbs and their DRL wiring harness. The wiring harness is hard to find on their website since it’s under accessories but it’s all plug and play except if you want the 50% dim when the headlights are on requires tapping the positive wire to the headlights. No piggyback resistors required on the Tacoma.

Baja designs makes a set of amber fogs that are DOT approved now. I use my older (less lumens than new ones) sport models on cold snowy days like yesterday, because a white truck in a snow storm is asking for trouble.

They aren't nearly as overwhelming during the day

I don’t do ANYTHING to promote front end visibility. I do my part driving safely, everything else isn’t my problem.

The amount of distractions and ill-attentive drivers on the roads these days is mind numbing. Anything you can do to be SEEN is a plus. Not being a wise guy, but if someone heads butts you at or over 30+ mph... then you will have a problem! They will too, but you WILL have a problem. Be safe!

You could add a bunch of that red and silver 3m reflective tape to the front of that shipping container sticking up above your cab. That stuff is obnoxiously reflective at night. But you’ll probably lose some IG overland cred because it’s not expensive enough and doesn’t require solar panels or custom wiring and mounting.

Hey Navigator1 and Thegenerik1, you guys are great! Love it, thanks.

Now I have to Google red and silver reflective tape run by solar panel.
    Or
I could just tell everyone the tape is run by a solar panel. Sorta like having a humongous round TV antenna, but no TV :)

"I know I don't have a TV, and you know I don't have a TV, but no one else knows I don't have a TV!"

    Aren't we funny?

I have been riding for over 40 years and I agree with doing whatever we can to be visible. On the other hand people get hit by police cars, ambulances, fire trucks, and freight trains every day. There is nothing you can do to get the attention of some idiot who just doesn't care except keep an eye out for these idiots at all times. Drive/ride defensively. Do a bit of research before you start adding lights to your truck or bike. What draws other drivers attention can also draw the attention of law enforcement and around my area they love to pass out awards (tickets) for the light shows.
