Agreed and if they can't get at least $2-3k they won't touch it.

The frame could be fine. Might just be the bed that buckled. If so and it’s cheap, it could be worth it.

My grandma just totaled her ultra clean low mileage GMC Envoy. They gave her $7k and offered it back for $550. All it had was a bent running board and a wrinkled in door. Didn’t even break the window on the door.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
When my 2016 Trd Offroad shortbed double cab was totaled, it had 45k miles on it. I had no additional oem options

They gave me around 29.5k, plus I had the optional car replacement assistance that gave me an additional 20 percent.

I had been good on the note, so I only owed 15k. I came out ahead, by around 500.

Well you must mean about suing people then because I already gave a fair amount of constructive feedback earlier in the thread.

So in that case, what would he be suing for? He already received an offer within a couple thousand of what should cover the cost of a replacement truck and is collecting information to attempt to get that amount increased. He’s made no statements about being injured or any other financial loss or personal anguish. A lawyer cost combined with the time dragging the whole thing out for months and having to go to court will absolutely outweigh the small increase he is after. So my current advise is to ignore your advice.

@rdpoe one thing I just though of is the tax you paid on the purchase of your truck. You probably payed somewhere in the ballpark of $2500, and now you’re going to have to pay that again on the new truck purchase. Might be worth going after, or at a minimum using it as a bargaining chip.

OP, Talk to a lawyer. You were only paid for the totaled truck not for any injuries or other hardships the accident caused you. Most lawyers you wont need to pay a retainer if they do not think youre justified. No out of pocket expense either but they’ll take normally 1/3 of the settlement amount. No good lawyer will take the case if they dont think they can easily win and earn at least $5k. Meaning your “small increase” would be $10k. What do you have to lose?
Or you can take genius’ advise above. Good luck

One snarky comment about your residence and you just can’t let it go.

However this was the easiest intellectual status promotion ever.

Well, I guess I just got screwed! I sold my SR5 SBDC for $25,000 (private sale). It was 2 months shy of 4 years old and had 47,500 miles on the odometer. I paid $30,500 out the door for the truck in December 2015. I had it for 46 months and I figured I drove it for around $120 per month (much less than I could lease it for). Well, actually a little more than $120 per month as I put a new set of tires on at 40,000 miles at a cost of $800. I had a chance to buy a 2015 for less in December of 2015 instead of the 2016 I opted for. I might could have gotten more than $25,000 for it as other posts are reporting 2 gen's are holding value better than 3 gen's.
