Hey all, I just bought my first Tacoma last Wednesday night. Super excited and love the truck! just curious as to what are must haves for a stock truck? I eventually plan on converting it to a 4x4 when I get the cash but for right now it’s a prerunner.

If you plan on converting it eventually then I would start using your mod money to buy the 4x4 parts you'll need slowly but surely, until you're ready to do the conversion. That way you have time to find what you need and for the right prices. Several good write ups on here on the conversion with parts lists and what not - collecting the parts is the most time consuming part of the process. Unless you buy a donor truck and just swap everything over.

I plan on finding a donor truck, have a few buddies that own salvage yards.

That's the way to do it...save a lot of time and headache trying to find the parts one at a time

It might be cheaper(ish) to have a donor truck, but unless you find that magic truck where all the parts you need are in perfect condition, you're going to end up hunting around for parts anyway. Then you have another giant paper weight that you need to deal with at the end of the project.

@Trip_09 ,Welcome to TW. Marlow Oklahoma, small town usa. When I was a kid, we had my family reunions there back in the mid to late 60's. One of my favorite memories was the Watermelon Festival, but I'm not sure exactly what small town it was held at. Good luck with your 4x4 conversion.
