    Did some weighted pullups today with 45 lb dbs and my left shoulder didn't like it

    Idk I’ve never had probs will pull ups. It could be because I couldn’t find those chains to put around my waist and instead I was hooking the weight with my feet and my angle was a little wonky and couldn’t flare my Lats as much.

    I do not like weighted pull ups or dips. Those are body weight exercises. I don’t see the point in adding more weight, you can do other exercises to hit those exact muscles with variable weights and not make things so awkward or risk injury

    I can't do dips very well either. I find different variations to use that don't piss off my shoulders. It's very hard for me to get the right angle without irritation. It is doable, but difficult esp when I am fat.

    Have you ever tried pushing the pads down on the assisted pull up machine? That is my dip variation since we don’t have those seated dip machines.

    If its not a dip, its not a dip. Machines change the entire dynamics of the exercise.
    A pull up on an assist machine is not a pull up
    A squat on a smith machine is not a squat

    I’m with @ThunderCookies on that. Do the real movement. Bothering with all the other variations strips the point of the original movement and can add risk.

    I don’t like adding weight to them. I love the movements. I do dips on my arm day and I do pull ups 2x per week. Push ups I do sparingly but I’m not against them, I just press everything else and don’t need them

    I just recently started adding weights to them because of this program I'm running. I usually do them body weight.
