TRD/ Magnuson 4.0 Supercharger Tips, Tricks, and Mods

Thanks! Being able to have a lift was one of the criteria when we moved a couple of years ago. (I'm sure my wife and our female real estate agent measuring garages in every house we considered had a lot of sellers scratching their heads!) As with everything else I buy, I did a lot of research before pulling the trigger - it's not as expensive as many think to get a decent and safe hobbyist lift. Hit me up if you want details.

Exactly! I realize it's blasphemy in some circles to mix blue oval with bowtie, but I've been drawn to C7s since they debuted. I consider myself very lucky to own both an end of (MT) era GT500 and an end of (MT) era Z06. For me, they're the best of both worlds!

Thanks. I usually participate in one drag racing event every summer, so no heavy track use. That said, M7s are less prone to heat problems than A8s, and the cooling system was upgraded in 2017 to mitigate heat issues in the 2015 and 2016 MYs.

Very nice addition! My grandpa just got one just like it in that blue steel/grey color. He hates it. LOL he says he can't drive it without the tires breaking loose or traction control kicking in. Sounds perfect to me. He has that car, a yellow 2015 corvette stingray, and a 2013 Saleen S302 white label convertible with the power pack 2 or something like that on it that supercharges it and upgrades the suspension. He also has 3 grandsons that are all car/truck nuts. We each chose one to be put in his will. I chose the Saleen. It is 1 of 1 for that year and has 14K miles on it. He keeps the Saleen and Z06 in Lake Havasu and the Yellow stingray in Bismarck. He earned his money, and deserves it all. Then found money underground and has been living life to the fullest! Hope everyone here has the chance to do the same!

Black gold. He was the largest land owner in McKenzie Country and a winter wheat farmer. Retired and then the oil boom hit ND and they found oil and he still owned all his mineral rights. So now he drills his own wells and sells the oil to the highest bidder. He definitely be "Rocking the Bakken".

@Torspd are you aware of any stroker kits for the 2TR? i see LCE has some for the older 4 bangers, but didnt see anything for the newer 2.7L

 

I understood the 2TR and 3RZ were pretty much the same internally from the head down. I'd love to know if I heard that in a dream or if my memory did retain something useful from someone with first hand knowledge..

Only way to know for certain is to call them. They worked a lot on @MrCrowntown 's engine. There are some tolerance differences. I think the 3rz bottom end is overall beefier.

Even if it doesn't fit, rods, pistons, head studs, and you have an engine easily ready for 1k who. Far cheaper than the 1GR. Plus that R155 is a stout transmission.

 

That's what ill end up doing. I did talk with Alyn some, but ive just been trying to do all the research i can before calling and talking with them.. The fact that it was significantly cheaper to build than the 1GR is the main reason why im jumping ship lol. The goal for me is to have a built/boosted 2TR that is quicker than my TRD supercharged v6 w/ a 2.3 pulley. Should be doable once the internals are built and i slap some kind of forced induction on it

 

@Norton you have great taste, congrats on the Z06!

 

Maybe they'll have their turbo header ready by then. A very nice and strong piece to support the weight of a turbo. Hopefully he'll have his up and running soon! I would say that @05Taco4x4 has the most thorough 2TR build, currently. I don't remember how much boost, what size turbo, or if he ever dyno'd it, but I am sure his is quick as is. It'd be great to see his against a similarly weighed s/c'd 1GR.
