I’m in Hawaii and getting inspired to lift my tacoma 12”. Those FJ axles will be perfect for my mall crawler build.

 

I actually kinda have been looking for a rear, full float, non elocker, FJ80 axle, but looks like you can get them for a few hundred bucks from a junk yard.

Just need to cruise down to the front range.

 

They don’t disengage if there’s any bind.

I’ve enjoyed the harrop up front.

 

I know a guy who has broken quick a few CV axles from his ARB locker...

exaggerate much? Whats this "few" billshit? I broke one CV axle ever in my life. Torn boots dont count as breakage.

 

What do they count as? Did you have to pull them after they didnt break?

 

That counts as maintenance. The torn boots are not a result of the locker...no catastrophic failure occured. the vehicle is still driveable with a torn boot.

 

Let's talk Steering Knuckles or what everyone calls Spindle's I can't say much because my passenger might be a tad off currently...

Now those are a different story...I am an expert at bending perfectly good steering knuckles. Kudos for using proper terminology

 

All spindles, prior to being bent, were likely “perfectly good”. Just sayin.

Yes. Exactly. Maintenance on the trail is called a trail repair. Case and point. The only CV that I have ever had a problem with on the trail is the one I snapped snow bashing switzerland at the end of last years snow season.
