he didn't say they fail for no reason whatsoever, just that they have a tendency to fail...which is true.

He's a smart guy, just odd how he'll ask the same exact question even to the same person more than once.

But yeah, the hell with the drugs.

it could be that he has a whole other shit ton of stuff on his mind currently that you may or may not have any knowledge of the things behind his 'curtain' and facade
the mind can only process so much at once!, when there is potential BS being fed and shoved at you into the brain you have to weed that stuff out somehow to maintain a sense of balance

    Absolutely.

But I'd like to say that a lot of the technical information posted here is true and accurate, and fortunately with the combined experience of many on here, we can learn what to do and what not to do before we ourselves fail, flat on our face.

    i should re-word that!

the Toyota mechanic yesterday said they just do visual suspension inspection of the tired old taco, any more testing while on the lift i would incure over $100 diagnostic charge upfront

i have no clue what the modern day trained Toyota expert mechanics know and don't know about all of this LBJs potential problems

I’ve been up for 25 hours straight building wiring harnesses. And damn is it satisfying to see this sight after that.

In your particular case, I'd opt to replace the LBJ's every 100k miles.

Don't trust what a "tech" would say, especially at a franchise dealer.

the young guy writing my service ticket yesterday had no clue where to find my current mileage, he kept fumbling the keys in the ignition looking for it
its like I have the only oldish Toyota that ever comes into the dealer shop once or twice a year
i keep asking how many 1st gens they see come in for service somewhat regularly and they really have no good answer for me

they did let me back into the shop while my truck was still on the lift to check some areas on the frame standing straight looking at eye level
but I still cannot see the exact area i am very concerned about!
