You won’t see mpgs gains really especially as you move up in tire size.

In my first two posts you can see I dropped MPG with the regear and it continued to drop from stock to 33s and 35s

300 miles per tank with a 33” tire sounds about right.

I hope you read this thread before taking the plunge.

Speeds over 65 will tank your MPG, likewise with stop and go short distance stuff

I need you guys to stop me or tell me I am nuts.....

It's the whole 5.29 with MT question. I'm losing sleep. Should I just go 4.30 to 4.88?

Is 4.30 to 5.29 gearing just too much?

Trails, mud, snow......Hills more hills Need lower gears!

    Help.

Is it worth the few thousand dollars to go from .3 to .88?

Edit: just saying if you're looking at an upgrade the at benefits much more but if you're an mt and looking to upgrade I'd imagine 529 are more noticeable

I can look at that two ways.

    Why do anything at all?
Why not go all the way?

I am adding F and R air lockers.

Will the higher revs drive me nuts?

    Will I be shifting more/too much ?

Will I go crazy with occasional freeway driving?

What size tires are you going to run? I went with 4:88's on stock tires, but If I had your truck with full lockers, full skids, and larger tires, then I'd go with 5:29's. The guys at ECGS are good at giving advice. Especially if you're ordering over 4g's worth of parts from them. My post on price breakdown is here.

Believe it or not, the sissy crawl control feature helped me make my decision. With MT, you have to rely more on the gears for downhill descents.

A lot of highway miles when camping, etc., and, at a high rate of speed (when I'm not towing the boat) :notsure::burnrubber:

So how are the RPMs cruising down flats and straight runs down freeway hills?

The RPMs seem good with 4:88's and OVtune as long as I keep it below 70ish. The truck still hunts from 4th gear to 5th when moderately loaded while going above 70.

Aside from the hunting part that type of input would be extremely valuable from a MT owner particularly with 5.29, but 4.88 as well.

You dont use CC for descents, you downshift just like the MT

Just go big dude and wheel it hard.

Well I do typically go too conservative on such things and end up full of regret.

Right at 70, the truck literally can't decide between 4th and 5th and cycles back and forth. I'm hopeful the next OVtune 2.0 release will change this, but I doubt it. At some point the wind resistance is too much.

I agree, and that's typically what I would do.

But they sure do use it at 2:00 minutes in on both these videos...

Lucas SAE 85W-140 Gear Oil. I believe as recommended by ECGS and used by the installer.

That howling sound is not so much noticeable now. However I’m now getting this “Whir-Whir...” pulsing/pulsating type of annoying sound/vibration between 60mph-70mph and then it goes away over that speed. And of course I didn’t have this before the ReGear. Fyi, ECGS clamshell bushing was installed before the ReGear and the shop did install a new with the Re-Gear.
When driving downhill, that “Whir-Whir” pulsating sound/mini vibration is still there but definitely not as noticeable as driving uphill.

Checked with my shop to get his thoughts and he mentioned someone else had about same sound. Ended up being his driveshaft. It was unbalanced or the U-Joint was going out.

    Any thoughts guys?

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!
    @JoeCOVA
In your opinion, would the benefits of cryo out weight, the void in warranty of said gears after cryo; if I am the kind of person who uses this rig as a camper/hauler mainly.
Aka I don’t bounce my taco on anything, I creep up what I can.
    The FJC is my bouncer.

I know it’s a loaded question, I am about to buy these from my buddies shop and that’s the last thought in this process.
