Has anyone found a caliper\rotor setup that works? I can make my own mounting plates just wondering if anyone has figured out what works already. I've read about supra swaps but they aren't supposed to hold very well. I've currently got the gm swap calipers on the rear but I want to try and get a parking brake working.

That being said has anyone made a transfer case brake for the v6 chain driven case? is there a reason the kits are only for the gear driven cases? Was thinking of trying to make my own. Doesn't look like it would be terribly difficult to rig something up? the allpro rotor and caliper are sold on their own then its just rigging up a mount?

There aren't many calipers that have the parking brake that will actually hold well, but should work as a brake, I think older nissan calipers were like that and probably others.

I was thinking about this problem also and thought about using an axle from a 4th gen 4runner and weld the spring perches to go under a taco.
They have decent disc brakes and an internal drum parking brake, same setup that is under my GX and it works reliably.
I am not sure about the width difference but there can be fixes for that.

I would say just try and make a hybrid using the taco axle and the 4th gen outer stuff, but they changed the flange pattern I want to say.
Someone makes a conversion kit that bolts on with a backing plate etc... but it is expensive.
this link is for a second gen, but it would look something like this
    https://www.lceperformance.com/2005-2019-Tacoma-6-Lug-Rear-Disc-Conversion-Kit-p/1055210.htm

As for the transfer case brake, never thought about the differences in case type.
Since you have the conversion calipers already this would be the easiest way to go.
I would think it would work fine as its on the rear output which is on the main shaft anyways, you would just need a mount and stuff like you said.

I used Nissan 300ZX calipers and Samurai rotors on the rear of my Jeep to convert to disk with mechanical parking brake.

You could use the same calipers and look for a six lug rotor that would be the right thickness to use. I was exploring that option at one point.

Instead I picked up a rear housing with 3/4 GM calipers and a transfer case parking brake that will be going on my truck. I forgot who made the tcase parking brake but it is discontinued

What year 300zx calipers? The dual piston ones that come up on google don't look like they have a mechanical parking brake?

I'd be most concerned with needing a replacement rotor in the future. May just be SOL if you ruin one and these guys are out of business. Unless that's a stock 4Rnr 4th Gen. I've never seen one.

I think once you have the adapter backing plate, the rest of the brakes and rotors etc.. are all regular 4th gen 4runner parts. That looks like an aftermarket rotor but it's 4th gen stuff, have similar cross drilled and slotted all around on my gx.

Uses Sequoia calipers and rotors with the small internal brake shoes. I have a complete rear disc brake setup. Just need time to install it.

More info on this? Is this a complete kit or something you had to piece together? Is this a direct bolt on swap to the Taco axle?

I've been wanting a rear disc setup but the e-brake has always been the problem. I don't want a disc off the t-case either. This setup looks like it would be ideal and is similar to what my 2004 Ram has OEM so I know it works well.

It's a kit. It's listed for a Tundra but it will fit Tacoma also. I've confirmed this with them.
The ebrake cables have to be shortened. They said When I'm ready to send them back with the measurements.
    https://sosperformance.com/products/rear-disc-conversion-with-parking-brake-slash-tr-dot-ps2-dot-ta5

You can also buy the backing plates by themselves and build your on kit.
    https://sosperformance.com/products...lash-tr-dot-ps2-dot-tu6-fits-2000-2006-tundra

Nice thing about the backing plate is split so you don't have to press the bearings off. You cut your old backing plates off.

You can call them and purchase just the brackets for $250ish. Yheir kit for the backing plates and hardware is overpriced .

Even though the bracket is split I would think this swap would be easier to pull axles out to cut on the stock backing plate. Won't have to press bearings, they stay on the axle. It looks like a good kit if you really want discs in back. Not really what's considered 'plug and play' though. You will need some sense of fab. work.

Replacing the whole backing plate would be hard to manufacture and keeping the same thickness for proper axle engagement would be too weak to mount calipers to.

Would require some new hangers welded on the axle would it not? Or does the kit completely change the ebrake setup

They don’t show photos of it in the instructions. Which is what’s left me confused as to what it does to make it all work

It uses Sequoia parking brakes. It has two cables the angle forward and run to original bellcrank by trans
