Overkill. I'll have a heavy camper, rear bumper, gas cans, drawers and camping weight and didn't want sag or issues. Plus super cheap compared to waiting and getting deavers.

Well that confirms my accusation that OME basically took their Hilux spring design and used it for the Tacoma despite being a different shackle arrangement. The 2nd/3rd leaves extend inside the shackle, causing a situation during articulating where they slide sideways, then jam into the shackle side edge as axle goes back to level, causing dangerous binding, horrible noises and shackle damage.
I recommend reusing stock shackles with the Hammer hangers and trimming about 1" off the 2nd/3rd leaves so they never touch the shackle.

You can see the leaves and shackles are worn where they rub each other in just normal driving. Thank you for pics Art

0 Complaints with my RXT's and Hammer Hangers - seems to be a good match.

Any axle wrap? Seems to be a common complaint. What configuration are you running?

Argh, so disappointing from OME/ARB. if they are like this with one product you know it's in their others.

thank you eric for the info/leg work. much appreciated learning the smart way.

thinking new leaf setup instead of installing the aal to the dakars with the OME BP51s. I have the hangers and the shackles but haven't wheeled it for this to happen. is there something we can do to help keep the leafs aligned? what would you replace them with (Deaver u402 stage3?) I love how stout the dakars are though.

/ (450lbs bed weight unloaded, max is about 700-1000 with gear, and occasionally pull a little uhaul/car trailer)

Not that it helps but I ordered the hammer hanger with his new add a leaf (1 leaf)that retains the stock overload with the oem springs. Not much lift per @ARCHIVE like an 1in maybe so win for me and should aid in not squating. I drive mostly unloaded and plan on towing my GTR so about 5500lbs w/trailer and also some rally track stuff. Could be something to consider.

Eric or anyone who can chime in...

i am considering upgrading my leaf springs, and i'm looking at U402 Expo Stg.1 (0-300lbs in bed). i have HH and stock shackles, have the spare in OE location and no extra weight in the bed. any comments on how this will be w/o add'l bed weight? i only have sliders on the truck, no rear bumper either. i'm on TRD Pro Fox stuff and love it but am looking at upgrading a bit and reeling in the excessive softness on the rear in particular, but i run 30" E tires so if it's too firm my teeth will fall out.

U402 stage 1 have a good ride, no one complains about them. Lift will be 3" over stock springs though, might stretch the nice Pro shocks out to far

wow i did not find a mention of that yet. so, since i have no aftermarket lift and HH with OE shackles, this is a wrong choice for me? do your shackles make it right, or are these just gonna lift it no matter what? maybe i should be looking at AAL or somesuch.

I now secretly offer an AAL that retains the thick leaf, aimed at handling 300-600lbs without riding the bumps. Ride is good with 300lbs, and firmer but not harsh IMO, at stock weight. I like the ride much better than the HD U539/540 spring under packs I was running

Hey Eric I am thinking of changing springs while I am installing Hangers and cross tube. I have Bilstein 8100’s with icon mini pack with overload leaf in currently. Also have full steel skids with tank skid , sliders and 75 lb bed rack. Truck doesn’t sag at all but ride is choppy in the rear. Wondering if Stage 1 U402 would work for me as well.

I wonder if ride is choppy due to having the Icon 3-leaf with the overload (not intended to be), I think the 3-leaf clip rivet heads engage the overload early causing excess spring rate. I think the U402 stage 1 would be good since you mentioned speed on gravel roads, and it may end up only around 2" lift. U402 stage 2 might be near 3" lift. Also investigate Dobinsons

At very least I will be cutting overload leaf to insure no contact and go from there. Thanks

So I installed some stage 3 deavers along with the Hammer Hangers and everything feels great! I was super worried that it would be overly stiff without the extra weight of a steel bumper but so far so good! Very impressedThe truck feels awesome! Great job @ARCHIVE !!
