I believe for the most part schools have moved away from selling jersey's with current players #'s...selling #1, the current year (#19) and other things that signify the school like #12 for A&M 12th man or a championship year.

    Have to believe it..

Had a x brother in law who played for SMU prior to their death sentence. Shit he told me/us was unreal.

    Players would receive $$ for:

    Fumble (caused/recovered)
    Int's
    TD's ( defence & offence)

    Whole lotta etc....

Have to be living under a rock to think the same doesn't happen some where @ some University?

    Turn over chains,hats,belts etc..

    My ass.

I don't think we will ever know the true extent of player payoffs, but we'll learn a lot from this going forward.

I had a guy I graduated with that went and played at a small little no name D3 school. He said he’d get a phone call and they’d say “check your mail” and just Hang up. He’d go look and there would be cash in there. Sometimes $300, sometimes $1000, and anywhere in between. We all know it happens, but it shouldn’t be that hard for a player to make money while on scholarship. People can’t buy them dinner. They CAN have a job, but sport + school doesn’t actually leave time for a job.

Gus has got to go! I'm tired of this garbage. This is absolutely unacceptable. Any chance the Rebels beat Auburn this weekend? Maybe that will help the powers that be show the burning bus the door!

I've been screaming to fire Gus for years now. Everyone likes Gus, unless you're an Auburn fan...

I think they just opened a massive Pandora's Box of arbitration and litigation. Who determines which players get what? It's one thing letting a player sell an autograph or get paid for an appearance locally... but paying them for jersey sales and game revenue...

Then... letting them hire agents... you've just turned a supposed amateur sport into professional madness. Now... kids can pretty much negotiate "contracts" with schools. This will be like pre free agency sports where the schools with the most money get the best "recruits"

Mind as well just create an NCAA draft.

It's sad how the college game has become such a money grab.

    Head unit. That's it.

The university would simply issue a percentage of the profit from the jersey sale to the player who wears the number.

If they put the names on the back, this will allow players who wear the same number as someone else to be specified.

Putting the names on the back will not only add cost to end user, but clarify which number 7 gets paid.

I have a few authentic jerseys now, with stitched names and numbers.

As far as jerseys go, the university buys/uses/sells so many, they probably get them for around $20 (maybe even less). They sell em to us for $60-$150. Splitting off a little bit of that profit margin wont hurt.

Who determines which players get what?

Well, the player does, and the universities do. (this happens now...players go where they get what they want IE: playing time, early play, money, etc.)

Paying them for jersey sales and revenue is honest. People buy that specific jersey, because that specific player wears it in the games. That seems pretty logical and simple to me...

This sport has only been amateur for the NCAA. Players have been getting paid at every university for decades (except Alabama...everybody knows Saban is clean). Kids negotiate contracts now. The schools with the most money get the best recruits now.

So, they are really fucking over other networks by picking LSU v Alabama, and the schools as well....technically.

I'm quite sure LSU and Alabama would much rather play at 7
