5100, front only/ with canopy. help!!!

i have a leer 100xq canopy on the 2010 trd sport. i want to put 5100 's on the front only for now.

im wondering what hieght to set it at as the canopy will produce the back end to sag.

any experience with this would be great help.

any way to measure?

i dont want to install and find out the front end is higher then the back.


any info would be great...

Are you doing the install yourself? I'd recommend it that way you can get the look you want without paying someone for their time.

 

On level ground, measure from the center of the hub directly up to the bottom of the fender. Compare measurements for front and back, keeping in mind the driver's side tends to be lower than the passenger's by 1/4"-1/2" due to the gas tank. Comparing measurements front-to-back on the same sides should give you a good estimate of what to aim for with 5100s in the front.

Also, since you're in Canada, I assume you have 4 leaf springs in the rear already rather than the 3 leaf packs that come on US trucks? If yes, you should be set.

Since most guys without canopy / toppers are setting up their 5100's at 1.75" to get the truck level, you might be wise to try the .85" setting to ensure you don't get nose high, especially if you ever plan to tow or carry a load. I've got a canopy and plan to go .85" first.

.85 you say. will you even notice that? i dont want to spend hours and 200 bucks to not notice anything.

but also don't want to have my nose higher then my back end.

I just did the install at .85 this weekend. I have no canopy and do have the 4 leaf pack. The money and time were well worth it. It gave me exactly an inch in the front and truck is level. The ride is amazing (I installed all 4 shocks).

Park on level ground. Use your jack to raise the front an inch, then try raising it 1.75. It'll give you a quick estimate of how it'll look. On mine the rear fender is at 37, front 36 and truck is level. The rear fender is cut out about an inch higher than the front I'm thinking.

 

Also, at .85 it is visually noticeable. More so than I thought it'd be.

 

I have the Canadian stock 4 leaf pack as well, and i could only go .85". At this setting it's almost level, however, i could never do 1.75" (Would be way nose high). At .85" it was more noticeable than i expected. If you want to go higher, you'll probably need to add some rear lift.
