Pics of OEM tonneau

Can someone post a pic if whatever OEM tonneau cover Toyota offers on the 3rd gen please? Can't seem to find a pic on Toyota website.

Thanks! Does this one fold up? And do they typically stay "locked" if the tailgate is closed and locked?

You can see I'm a real expert when it comes to tonneau covers.

 

It folds 2/3 of the way, the last panel by the rear window does not fold. Yes it stays “locked” if the tailgate is closed and locked but not if open. You have to reach under the first panel to release that panel so if the tailgate is closed and locked you’d have to pry it open to break in. Not an actual lock but if you can’t open the tailgate then you can’t access the release.
You can fold the middle panel by accessing the same type of latch and if you need to drive with it open you fold the two onto the one next to the rear window and there’s two straps that snap into two corresponding holes in the third panel so that they sit somewhat tight while folded.
It sounds much more complicated than it is.

The rear most 1/3 will not stay folded forward on its own. I learned this the hard way on day 5 with my truck...

Picked up on a Saturday, the following Wednesday morning had my bike in the bed, only the rear-most 1/3 panel folded forward, and it flipped back while on the highway. The end of my handlebar punched right through. I have a strap that I use to hold it down now.

It’s not supposed to, Thats what the clips are for, to hold it open while driving.

I was mainly posting that as a warning.

 

I haven't used mine in the folded position yet, but I don't think there's anything to hold down the first section. You have to fold it twice to be able to use the straps. Or is there?

 

Nope, nothing. I use a couple of Thule cam straps to strap the last third panel down on top of the center panel if I drive with it that way. But with the center and rear sections both folded forward, there are two slick little buckle straps that hold it all in place.

 

yup only on the 2nd section., fold up 2 sections clip it open. Nothing to hold the last section open only.
The fact that they put them their, I’d have thought was enough to release you need to use them, and that you can’t use them on just the last section means it’s both sections or nothing while driving.

 

I figured mine would flip forward while driving, wasn’t expecting it to be with enough force to put my handlebar through it.

 

I was once in a car that had its hood open at 45-50Mph and it destroyed the windshield and even bent the front of the roof. The tonneau may be behind the cabin, but from the look of what happened to yours, it gets a pretty good slam even if it's being spared some of the wind.

 

Damn, that really sucks. Nothing like being the subject of a cautionary tale.

 

Toyota sells replacement pieces for damaged parts at stealership prices.
