it was all kinds of off as far as Im concerned, I dont know much about the "build". Such as what and where he got his info, but just the scope being loose--and crosshairs being canted sets me off! lol.

Did he use an LPK to build it or buy the parts individually?

Oh god. Lol one of those...

The first one I built I went to a shop and had a gunsmith give me a list of parts so I wouldn't screw it up. Lol

I built one of those Aero 10s for a buddy. It has proprietary parts with it or at least it used to. I used the Aero upper, lower, buffer tube assembly and their LPK then swapped out the trigger pack for a Timney single stage drop in.

He loves it. Last we spoke, he said it had never had a malfunction. I put an adjustable gas block on it when I built it and he tunes it to his ammo.

It feels like a gas issue to me, after I corrected a bunch of little crap...what block did you use? This is about 18"barrel to the muzzle brake.

    His is an 18 inch I believe. It's been a while since I built it. It's that or a 20. Can't remember.

Syrac Ordnance but I think they were bought out by another company after that build. Best AGB on the market in my opinion. It has "clicks" instead of just twisting the screw for more accurate settings. You just fire click fire click until it stops cycling then turn it back up one notch and you're good. When you change ammo you just do the same thing over until it's set.

Give me a second to look. Another company bought them out. I'm sure they still exist. It'd be crazy if they didn't. Best gas block hands down. I dare say they're still flying off the shelves. I have one on every AR I own.

@wilcam47 after further research it sounds like Superlative was making those blocks for Syrac. Syrac went out of biz and now Superlative makes and sells them. I dug into it a little further and found that some people had trouble with the Syrac version but all of mine have hundreds and some with thousands of rounds through them with no issues.

As far as I know, yes it has a detent in it.

You don't HAVE to but if you want it to run correctly and not overheat under heavy use I personally suggest adjusting it. It's quick and easy to do. Mine came with a long Allen key that you slide down inside the rail and adjust. The felt recoil is a LOT less when it is adjusted properly also.

The main reason I have them is because I reload and also shoot suppressed a lot. It's kind of a must have to make everything run right with cans. I also use the JP silent capture springs.

yeah this one has a decent brake, It really doesnt kick that bad. My DPMS kinda heavy recoil even for a gas operated spring buffer. Im just curious as to why it fired the hunting ammo and not the steel cased ammo.

Not sure about that. Only thing I'd run steel cases through is an AK. Those things don't give very much under pressure.

Im just going to tell him to get an adjustable gas block. he wants it for "hunting" but its kinda a little much. I did the same mistake but it is a fun gun to shoot...just expensive;)

Yeah I try to reload to save money but it's a tedious task. I have a 300blk, a 6.8 and a wildcat (5.56x42, it's a 6.8 case with a .223 pill) so my ammo bill can get out of hand really fast. I don't shoot near as much as I used to. I mainly hunt with them now.

Yeah Im starting to love the .308 round, dropped an elk cow at about 200yds last week.(she did run a little 50-60yds but she still dropped within sight). Just an Ar-10 is heavy to be lugging around hunting. Unless you got a good place to sit its a bit heavy for my liking. My Mossber MVP is almost a bit heavy but its still not bad as the Ar10.
