    that shit is real.

I've seen a tank commander hang onto the bustle rack while taking a shit

    that's right folks.
he dropped his pants, braced himself into a cgu strap, and hung off the rear bustle rack while someone else carefully rotated the turret, waited for him to shit, then he expertly and liberally cleaned himself with what seemed a half-pack of baby wipes

then the TC yelled for the turret to rotate back, he climbed from his cargo strap perch, buckled his pants, and picked up a cup of coffee from the rear deck

My first assignment was a mech unit (3rd ID) and the tankers drove up to the LMTV for hot chow. So much for interlocking sectors of fire on the perimeter. Then down range we shared a sector with 1st Cav. One of the tankers on an OP had a mine placed behind them. They tried to claim it was buried the whole time but that position was rarely empty and the tankers rotated vehicles on it. Not a dig on all tankers by any means, that same unit was pretty amazing and the commander was awesome, BUT the mentality can be a slippery slope.

You’re thinking too much from the fob perspective. I don’t need to keep people out of my house, just make it obvious all the neighbors are a softer target.

Why not both? Harder target and have a clearance plan...

FOB my eye, that's patrol base operations 101

line the flower beds with sandbags and drop some minefield flags in 'em. maybe some AR550 steel plates with eye slits cut in them under the porch

drive around with a few rolls of concertina tied onto your hood for a while. the neighbors will spread the word for you

lol that’s not a patrol base, cop maybe. Patrol base is the nastiest place without any essential terrain and no reason for the enemy to pass through.

Of course that’s only according to doctrine. :D:boink:

One of those dumb asses really should take charge and correct the direction they are facing. Also clearly they live in the barracks, how do they not know where the flag is?

I’ve seen it before. You can’t see the flag so you face the music but some of them have enough sense of direction to know which way the flag actually is.

    exactly...

but yeah the sound does bounce around but half arent even saluting, prob because under cover, ones facing the window, couple their dorm room...LOL...Bunch of STUPID there!! LOL Our leadership told us we had to know where the base flag was so we would know where to turn and salute...kinda iffy under the awning/cover of the dorm room...
